    Water Pump Mishap

Doesn't that whole radiator assembly lift out? Take that out, replace the water pump, hoses, fan & all, then reset the radiator, Change that thermostat too with the hottest one you can get! Use an overhead, or an engine puller to remove/set the radiator! Don't feel too bad. I once had that...

    Checking Transmission Oil/Fluid Level

It seems to me, that when you remove the plug to check the fluid in mine, there is a gear close behind it, and its hard to stick your finger in there. I use a piece of broom stray or wire, in place of my finger. Lee in Alaska

    help please........

My M211 had a hex self locking nut. Actually, two different kinds of them. If i were doing it, I would use hex nuts, self locking. Ask for Grade "C", self locking nuts, at the Fastener place.. It is a high quality interferance fit, locking nut. Lock washers are not good enough! Lee in Alaska

    m37 axles

Vintage Power Wagon, is another spot, that has about everything. On the front axel, its important to make sure that inside axel support bushing is good, and to replace its seal. It has the old riveted brake shoes. I've had it almost 40 years, and the lining is still real good. Lee in Alaska

Suggested paint colors for Deuce (other than OD or camo)

To me white is a hard color to keep up. Around the bed, if the paint gets scraped off, rust really show up bad. As far as the paint goes. Existing equipment companies usually have their equipment paint availiable. Like Catapiller & John Deere. There paint is good and not too expensive. Both of...

    Need an opinion...

Its a sharp truck!. Everybody knows its authentic military. For me, the way you paint it, doesn't distract from its authenticity. Paint the hardtop tan, the wheels tan, with silver lock rings. The bumpers & frame & under parts can be black! Everybody will still know its an authentic military...

    Gasser Tune Up

Good Show I use a box end, 9/16" & the appropriate screw driver, but not too long. I don't shut it off. Break the lock nut loose, do the adjustment, then slip the screwdriver through the inside of the box end, and you can hold both comfortably with that hand, while you check with the feeler...

Manifold Flap Stuck- that ani't all....

RE: Manifold Flap Stuck- that ani I ran one of these for years.. I would really, really suggest that you check the block for flat, especially the head too. The head was out .017 & the block was .006 out the other way. While I was at it, I had both manifolds milled flat. When you re-assemble...

    Gasser Tune Up

Really great - I know how you feel! I don't know what engine you have, or the spec's. Setting the timing, at an idle, where it sounds best, is usually not where the spec's say to time it. Also, after you set those valves, you'll want to re-time it! That will change the settings some. A precise...

Anyone parting out M35 winch brackets and bumper???

Once you get parts, those little wrinkles will buff right out!. Hopefully your frame is not tweeked too. I can never understand how some of that stuff happens. If the dent in the oil pad is very extensive, it will change the level on you dipstick. Lee in Alaska

    Which wrecker is this?

I can't help, on the ID, but I'd want to go look at it first. Looks like the big stuff is there though. I have always found that these vehicles often just get used, if not abused, and mostly, maintainance is deferred. Nobody is interested enough in it to keep the weather out of the cab, for...

How to make a M911 do highway speeds?

Maybe I'm missing something, but my impression of your question is, can you have two speed rear ends in a multi-drive axel vehicle. I don't think so - they would never shift at the same time under the best of conditions. At other times, you would end up with three axels with one stuck in the...

M37 - new here hiya ... need some advise please

What to do first? Air up the tire & take it to the car wash. Get some of those tyvek disposable coveralls, take everything out of her, and give her a good wash, inside & out. Especially the mud on the underside & caked on grease. Some of that paint might even come off. Clean stuff, is a lot...

    may buy M37.......advice?

Hi Doug ! loose track, but I bought mine close to 40 years ago. The Guy that I bought it from said," the M37 was the finest four wheel drive ever built". I think that opinion still stands. When you get one of the modern 4x4's stuck, you can usually drive a circle around it with the M37. Its my...

    M809 series wheel cylinder replacement

Your lucky those are outboard drums - otherwise you would have had to pull the whole hub. Did you have to disconnect the return spring? Could you have not just spread the shoes enough to remove the brake cylinder. I know that is a mean spring! For a leaker, it was real clean in there too. Lee...

    snow chains?

I have converted heavy equipment chains. Like road grader & log skidder chains. A set of chain tongs is a must for working on them. You can extend/shorten the side rails, or shorten the cross links. Running them on pavement is what wears the chains. They last a long time on hard pack or even...

Cab/personnel heater & gas fired heater for m37

Used to have a hood blanket for mine. The loops are still on the hood, if you look close. Haven't seen them in years either. The exhaust from the personel heater on mine, exits out the bottom, through as hole in the fender. The exhaust going up the side of the windshield, was most common. Lee...
