Make sure that the whole body is grounded well to the grounding terminal on the inlet recepticle. Then insure that all the vehicle body parts are bonded/grounded to each other, ie., van body to frame & engine. Also that all the various components of the van bodye are bonded to each other. Use...
Go to an equipment dealer - Cat or John Deere, and get a little test Kit & a quart of radiator conditioner. This is not rocket science. Just test the stuff with the strips, and add the conditioner for the desired neutral results. There is some real expensive equipment out there and they don't...
Make sure its getting gas. Manual pump the original with the line disconnected at the carb. When they set a long time the vaccuum assist on the bottom end of the fuel pump fails & can pump oil.

I think the "tipping point" that you are refering to , is an arrangement built into the trailer's tongue, for storage & space savings. The tongue is designed to tip/bend/pivot upwards, allowing the portion of the tongues frame that is normally under the box, swing down as legs.
I'm not a expert...
Good job describing the towing abilities of the two trucks. I have had similiar experiences. Then occasionally you run across somebody that pulls a trailer, with a similiar load, with a One Ton Pickup, and think they are doing fine!
You can accomplish a lot with some "vintage" equipment...
If the Gooseneck trailer has dual wheels on each axel, it would be rated to carry a deuce, but its my opinion that, that is a technical rating. If your not used to hauling heavy stuff, then its not a good idea. Don't try it with a bumper pull! Its too easy to fish tail.
I would recomend...
The weight rating is ultra conservative. The bent frame is probably abuse. Often Folks think these trucks ar bullet proof and they are close, but nothing is "Fool Proof"! The boom above, is the cadallac. The poor mans boom is an "A" fame boom off the front bumper, usuing your winch.
If you...
The regulater in the top picture is very common. I always forget the line routing, so will have to check tomorrow for you. They have multiple ports for line routing. #3 can be move 180, to the other side, or be use where that hex plug is. One of those is a vent, that can be routed to an alcohol...
The Military Senior filter. P52, was mentioned. The Military Junior filter, P51, fits the M37 & related smaller vehicles. Its an old Purolater Number.

Years ago, I ran an M211 all over this country. I had converted it to a 5 speed manual transmission. I could disenguage the front axel. I made up a splineless set of front hubs that I could bolt on, for long trips. On or off, I could never measure a...
Too much starting fluid has been known to bend them - even to tempory locking up the engine. The stuff detonates inside the cylinder.....

In many respects, "MV" are popular because they are cheap. Like any piece of equipment, they take maintaince periodically. The M35 is more common, therefore. more cheap components are availiable for them. The 800 Series are a real large truck, and not as common. Parts are going to cost more. If...
I always thought the WC62 was very interesting. if you were driving it around some, it would sure be impressive. After seeing a couple, I thought the T-case in the M37 could be used to run a second rear drive line. I have an M37 for a work truck that is retired to the ranch. Its a perfect...
RE: Trailers
They ought to fit the HMMWV perfectly. The M101 went all the way back to the M37 and fit it perfectly - right down to the wheels.

Commercial highway trucks run the wheel bearings with gear lube all the time. When the internal seal fails, gear lube enters the wheel bearing areas. The important thing is to keep it in there and not let it contaminate the brakes. When I do the brakes, I will look for a modern seal.
