A heavy truck parts store will have diagrams for the air systems. There is a lot to converting them & mounting the fifth wheel, etc. I did it on a M211, but always drooled when I saw a standard built Tractor. I recommend as above.

Some flaps and skirts would surely help protect things. But often these vehicles suffer from neglect, if not abuse. If you get Her up in shape, then just do regular maintaince & simple stuff, like washing Her down with a hose after use. It will last a long time.

RE: Won today, unofficially
Sharp - and you have the winch, racks & tarp. The winch line looks un-used. You might want to find a heater for it.

Sure its worth something. It would be good for some emergency power. Does it run. Looks like it would. It would be good for a little light, charge some batteries/battery charger, and especially, your cell phone.

RE: jeep won
Wear is the root cause. 2nd gear gets a lot of use, tooling around on the back roads, etc. When I was a Kid, I had a 1953 Willis pickup that did that. You can take the lid off the transmission and increase the tension on the detent ball, on the shifting rail by stretching the...
Maybe 25/75, of gas to diesel. Once my Dad, trying to help me, put 5 gallons of diesel in my M37. That had to have been about 50/50. The old girl ran that mix pretty good. Talk about upper cylinder lubrication...... I just didn't want to let it idol much, cause the fumes would burn your eyes...
I suspect the they will interchange! For instance, the regulator failed on my M-37. At least it quite charging. I suspected the regulator. I didn't have one that looked operable. But I did have one straight off an M-211. It looked different, but had the same cable pin configuration as the M-37...
Even when a flap is mounted real close to the tires, they usually don't rub on the tires, going down the road - air movement causes them to trail backwards some. If they are set back very much, they can catch on the landing gear of the trailer, when turning, especially on uneven ground. The down...
Hey Andy
If the trailer has spring brakes (double pots), you will need + 60# of air to move it, at least that much, on the "Emergency" side. If it doesn't have the springs brakes, and there is still air in its tanks, get under there and drain the air. That will release the brakes, and you can...
The duck billed hammer is standard equipment, when you have nothing else to work with. You just have to learn how to swing it properly. You can make shift a couple of other pry bars. Cleaning of the wheel & the inside of the tire is important. I don't like to leave it wet inside. Replacement of...
I made a couple of turntables for measuring toe-in, by using two used rear wheel bearings (the cup & cones), from an old truck. I cut 4 each, 8" x 8" pieces of 1/4" plate. Then tack welded the plates to each cup & cone. When the cup & cone are re-positioned under the tire, they allow the tire...
I have had for some time now, a clamp-meter made by Fluke, that also measures DC current. It records the current draw. I have found it to be invaluable in trouble shooting, particularly on vehicles. In particular, current can be measured without disconnecting anything.

If your on slippery stuff, one end will be pushing, the other pulling. They will try to swap ends of the vehicle. Even different sized tires can cause problems, but there is a lot of jump, between those two ratios.

The design for these trucks is 30 plus years old. Its principal use/design was Off-Highway, with some Highway capacity. If the brakes are maintained, and adjusted up properly, they preform as designed. Applying todays standards in terms of speed and performance is questionable. Modifying the...
