RE: Michigan and surrounding states
:( Well...er...um.... I did stop at your place... yeah. I did! But.... um.... well.... you weren't there..... that's it! I knocked and nobody answered! Nice collection of OD iron you have in the yard...... :)
Hey Lane! Yeah, I haven't been on lately, been a lot of things going on here recently. Well, it's a hunting trip, and it is polar bear country, muskox and caribou too. Still want to go to Clare, refresh my memory on the date. Are you going? Any other SS members going?
RE: Michigan and surrounding states
I was just up that way a week ago Lane. I would like to go to the event as I love the UP and am ready for a MV road trip, but I'll be away during that time.
Dave, unfortunately I will not be attending this year, I will be somewhere near the arctic circle at that time. I had a blast last year, from the show, to the BBQ, to the sand dunes. Good fun and great people. Michigans west coast is beautiful for those that have never been there. I will be...
Watch ebay for the parts you need. Saturn Surplus sells black out lights for the Dodge M880 which will work if the wire connectors are changed.
Not to say it doesn't exist, but I've never heard of a military canvas top for a M1009. The M1008 pick-ups had a vinyl top available. There are civy...
RE: Coolant leak
Lee, what will the consequences be if a person were using the standard Prestone Antifreeze in a diesel engine? Is the green Prestone in the yellow bottle safe for diesels? A friend of mine wants to know.... not me. :)
Extreme heat is one of the main killers of batteries too. I remember our (Delco) battery replacements were exceedingly higher in dry, hot regions like the southwest, Saudi, etc. It helps having the batteries located someplace other than in the engine compartment.
Thanks Mike.
Reduce the Gillespie paint as stated by the manufacturer, 2:1. http://www.armyjeepparts.com/ (Click on GCI PAINT).
I'm not an expert on painting by any means, but I now use a hardener and it makes a very noticable difference in the quality of the paint. It is only slightly more...
RE: I
There is no Army TM as the AF were the only ones to use this genset. I had the manual in my hands and copied the # off of it. The manual belonged to the shop that pm'd my gensets and they wouldn't give it up :( They had gotten the manual a number of years ago from Selfridge AFB when...
Contact Brian at BRTrucks. I've gotten used ones from him before. Also Memphis Equip. has complete NOS units for just over $100, filter included. As far as the fuel filter itself, the civy is the same as the military version. However, the filter block is slightly different and cannot be...
GREAT pics!!! In the picture with you guys in the river, you all were so muddy you turned the river brown... lol
I love seeing those big deuces in action too!
Looks great! I can't believe how nice the drum brake looks, unless that's after you cleaned it up. Mine was a nasty corroded mess when I took it apart. I may have a couple data plates for the winch if you are still in need. Let me know.
Thanks Kenny! Wish you could too :)
Chuck, weren't you looking into getting the plate number painted on or something? I think it might have been for the dueces. What ever happened with that? It's a great idea for a historical vhicle, and I believe it is legal in some states.
