no worries - i first thought there was only the sizing relationship of the pump to motor to worry about. then when i got to talking with some hydraulic controls specialists, i learned how much really goes into it if you want it done 'right'.
pretty neat, actually.
'Ty is alot closer to the money, although, as i found out there is a lot more information required to do it 'right.'
i have a hydraulic PTO calculator spreadsheet that can be used, but we need lots of specific info, such as:
winch:
drum OD
cable size
max layers
max desired line speed
max...
actually, i dig it - functionality-wise. that 3pt retrieval system is hands-down better than the crappy stinger system that the 1089 uses.
though, in either case the MHE is about worthless because it has to be positioned mid-frame. that's ok, though: the 1089's really only get called to tow...
Jim, aka cavemantrucks on here, built my truck. fit and finish is amazing and he'll do anything you want done to the truck. check out the pics in my album.
...and welcome to the site. :D
i know, but isn't that overall capacity, as including trailer weight?
i wouldn't put 50k on it. i had one for my M10000 VRF which weighed in at 35k - the 172 seemed quite maxed, given the rate we were going through tires, wheels, brakes, etc.

depends on what you want to do w/ the truck. the 6CT is a medium duty motor and the 400 is a heavy duty motor. either will have more power than the 250. the 8.3 can be modified to turn higher rpms. the 400 will have more torque than the stock auto will be happy with it you get in a bind, so...
sounds awesome. i'm doing the same but going a different route - my 5.9 is a tad too hopped up for the spicer, so i'm doing the NV4500.
what are your plans for radiator and intercooler?
welcome to the site!!
looking good. even a winch truck, to boot!!
i say lift it and get it up on 16.00's - to me, that's when a bob'd deuce really shines.
or, dual out some 14.00's....
you'll probably need to turn the fuel up some.
looks great, Ian. i, too, would like to 2nd the question about power-plant. also, what are your plans for power steering? i can recommend the PSC full hydro kit - turns my 52's perfectly.
i have good pics of cylinder mounting in my album on here. also, i can take pics of the pump mounting...
OEM hubs are much stronger than the stock flanges. the OEM 16spline hubs are the same hub used with the 2" 47spline alloy shaft - just change out the splined collar adapter, but same hub body. they also have alloy drive flanges to use with their alloy axle shafts. these can be used to simply...
why would you go thru the dangerous and back-breaking trouble of pulling a third-member to weld the spiders and not put in a $485 locker?
you can't even get a Detroit locker for a Ford 9" for anywhere near $500...
