Welcome to SS and OD addiction nm190!!
Last time I was in Europe, there were bunches of GM trucks of that vintage driving around. Only thing the guys complained about were the narrow streets...and cost of petrol - 5-7 dollars to the gallon ,depending on the country.
Nice looking truck!
I agree with the others about getting another attack cat. The ya gotta make a sign:
"Warning, Fangs on Duty"
Like the idea, nice and simple! And it does give you an idea to check your tank if some idgit tries to defeat it!
Was looking through the Louisiana state news and came across this just a few minutes ago. I know it is the last day, but:

Nope, your not nuts. Ive been driving mine approx. 50 miles everyday for the past 2 months and its ok. The diesel $ might be an issue unless you can augment it with something else, 8-10 mpg.
Then again, I'm prolly nuts as well...:cookoo::cookoo::cookoo:
Really nice looking resto guido! Glad that you could resque her!
Kinda interested in the 1950ish MF, is this an old Ferguson? I have a TO-30, unfortunately she needs a resto herself...
BTW, Welcome to SS and :cookoo::cookoo:OD addiction:cookoo::cookoo:!
My vote is for these or the 33x12.5x15.
Ive had these on all of the 4x4s ive had and have been very pleased. Might be a little more, but they have lasted me about 60-70k miles. The also come in handy when you 'unintentionally' go offroad.
Pull the starter apart and see if the internals are good. If they are, just go with the solenoid. If you have questions on the innards get a new one or the one you have rebuilt.
Havent bought a solenoid lately, but 50 clams seems kinda high.
Sounds like a sticking solenoid. Change it out and you should be good to go.
While you have the starter out, you might want to check the bearings and brushes, just to make sure all is good.
