Cool, a wrecker on site this year. Getting close, can't wait - all dependent on income for the time being, though. If I am still out of work at the time, I doubt I can swing this rally. We'll see as we get closer.
I'll offer him a bank check made out for $200 more than he's asking, to pay the movers, and send someone right over to get it.
The winch is a joke, I've never seen such a monstrosity. I take that back, that deuce from CA with Blazer axles still wins.
Wow, looks like time hath taken its toll on the rocker panels and the bottoms of the doors. That's a lot of cancer, even for M880 series trucks....
Hope it gets a proper resto and repaint in time. In the meantime, it's a good start!
Wasn't me. I heard about that. Glad I was still in the sack so I didn't get blinded by the sight.
Wasn't Downhill Bill either - though DHB was set up at the show.
Truck and trailer are loaded and ready to go. Getting the last tidbits of history to display from around the house to bring. The portable bit of South Vietnam 1969 will be arriving around noon tomorrow, hope everyone can swing by and take a look.
I love doing living history. Someday when I...
Another box showed up today. About 6 feet long and weighed 65 lbs. Gee, I wonder what it is?
Turns out that being on the naughty list ain't that bad. I'll have to keep banging Mrs. Claus under the table to get these presents, I tell you what.
Actually, it was built by Bismarck Guns, it was...
There's a couple Steel Soldiers here with tractors and commercial tags. Perhaps they can move for less than $25K?
Note on the Vietnam moving wall and the M60 series tanks: While the M60 tank was in service at the time of Vietnam, it never served there. All the heavy tanks in Nam were M48...
The M60s came in today, now we got da heat. The pic shows the two, they were built by Reese Surplus out of demilled parts and aluminum castings. Top is as arrived, except for the platform mount, which is mine. Bottom shows it with a real M60 rear sight installed, as well as a real carry...
Yup - that's called Arizona fescue. Do like they do, just plow it up, and spread gravel all over the place. A couple well-placed cacti will balance it all out. Or do what some folks in Florida and So.Cal do, and just pour concrete over your whole yard, make a big slab to park the green iron...
Got the rebuilt carb back this morning - the mechanic said the carb was filled with dried varnish from sitting with old gas in it for a long time. Also, the jets and gaskets were ALL shot. Now I know why it ran like crap at Haspin. Will stab that back on shortly, and more pics to come.
Did those M51s come from the factory in 1966 with the fender mounted air cleaner and the exhaust stack? Or did they get revamped sometime in their lifetime?
I seem to remember the factory ones from the 60s came with the low exhaust pipe coming out near the rear wheels, and no air cleaner on...
Looking for anyone who has anything Vietnam-era, weapons, vehicles, or otherwise, that would like to display at the hooch on the east end of the fairgrounds, to let me know what you have and bring it there anytime Thursday-Saturday. I am especially looking for anyone with an M2 or M122 tripod...
