Insurance raised my premium for a really dumb reason.

I had to get insurance before I could register or title the vehicle. So I went ahead and did so and just threw a wild guess as to the age of the vehicle. I told the insurance company that it was made in 1966. Well, I then got the actual year from Carnac. So I put that (1970) on the SF97 and...

    GL wants my Deuce back

You're not obligated in any way to GL as a secondary buyer. They're just a private entity same as you or anyone else. You are, however, obligated to give any property you own to the Federal government if it asks for it. Whether they owned it originally or not. Including your house, cars, and...

    GL wants my Deuce back

The Constitution explicitly says that the government MAY NOT take property without compensation. If they paid 10k and the government only gives them 1k, that is not compensation, in my book.

    Multifuel Gensets?

Put a generator head on a LDT-465. Or build a custom alternator for it.

    Fort Sam Recovery

    Gee, that sounds familiar.

    Fort Sam Recovery

I was wondering who won those two dark OD green 1008s... They'd been sitting there for a long time.

I wonder why they pulled all the m35a2s

Where are they supposed to put all the incoming trucks during the meantime?

    GL wants my Deuce back

Honesty. You mean like selling trucks that are past their utility to the military to the civilians who paid for them in taxes in the first place... only to arbitrarily demand them back after same civilians put in countless hours and significant wealth into transporting and restoring them? That...

    GL wants my Deuce back

Well, that doesn't sound very official... but it doesn't sound very good, either. First off, whom did you get a letter from? Govliquidation or the government? Second, would you mind posting the exact text of the letter, minus any personal details?

    GL wants my Deuce back

Same. But it'll be with a regretful tear that I hand over the stripped frame after selling all the pieces to 50 different buyers.

    RE-using motor oil

Baffled? If I was closer, I'd buy it.

    RE-using motor oil

No go, I think. The molecules get broken down over time, reducing their lubricity. However, some synthetic motor oils might be worthwhile to do this with. Some of those are supposed to last 10k miles and more before breaking down.

    RE-using motor oil

Eliminates the need for filters. Heavy solids are trapped at the base of the bowl while the lighter oil continues to flow towards the outer edge (aka, the lip) and over into the collection pan. Just clean the bowl between batches. Also, you can separate much finer particles out than with...

    Anyone else made wood bows?

He does. But I say kooky, because he does things unnecessarily primitive, alot of times. For bog's sake, he uses a FOOT POWERED lathe! I admire his ingenuity and craft skills, if not his common sense. eta: Of course, I'm talking about spending time and effort to build two wooden bows when I...

    RE-using motor oil

I was thinking about casting an aluminum bowl and machining it down to tolerance myself. Cost effectiveness for an individual hobbyist for something like this would be around $300 for the entire setup, I think. At that price, assuming you get your oil for free and you don't count your time...

    Anyone else made wood bows?

I need two bows and I've never bent wood before now, so I figured this would be a good excuse to learn how. I've seen the kooky traditional woodworker bend wood on his PBS show, so I've got a rough idea of how to do it... but I don't have a way to steam 45" lengths of wood. Will simply soaking...

    Why EUC?

Putting on an EUC that you might sell the truck to someone in Nigeria is hardly the equivalent of making jokes about bombs in an airport. There's nothing to get "away with" on something like that. Are we at war with the Nigerians, or something? I've considered investigating the possibility...

    RE-using motor oil

ditto. I looked at the dieselcraft stuff, but they seem too expensive for my tastes. Would you mind posting pics when you get your centrifuge? I've got a few ideas for making my own I'd like to try...

salvage yards for m35 in La

If you need more than 1 or 2 major parts, you're probably just better off buying a parts truck.

    Deuce Fuel

How hard overall would it be on the engine if you centrifuged all your UMO with something like that dieselcraft widget and then cut it 50/50 with diesel?
