We picked up my deuce at Fort Sam about 45 days ago and while we were there had a good walk-through of the deuces. Estimate about 30% in good shape, 30% in fair shape, and the rest could be used to good parts trucks. You really need to preview the animal you want. Most pics you look at do not...
Andrew,
From what I have read the supports for the pintile hook and back bumper interfer with a straight bolt up. All of the ones I have seen have been modified, like you said, nothing a welder cant fix. Keeping the hitch for that year model is what they are using so you did good saving it off...
1. Mine work so I have not had to go through the dash. The TM's should help on this but someone here on SS should be along to get you that number shortly.
2. As a guess???, ground issue or GP relay going bad?
3. I'd go with the factory setup, anything less will make it louder than it...
Might want to consider adding a frame re-enforcement bracket to strengthen the frame in the steering box area. GMs are notorious for cracking the frame in this area during heavy use. You can look on the web and find them or someone here on SS can steer you in the right direction on where to get one.
Have been looking for one as well. Best I can tell, you are going to have to make some type of modification on whatever you get. It would be nice just to be able to bolt something in though.
Welcome to SS! Glad to see someone else in LA. Beware of getting a MV though, once you get one youll want more....and that strange twinge in our necks, its, uh, well, :cookoo::mrgreen::hammer: NORMAL.....
I used a 4' piece of 4x4 to pull out my trucks on the beach many a time (k-10s and k-30s). Dig a ditch 1' deep and perpendicular to the way you want to winch and place the 4x4 in it and bury it. Nice clean slightly back cut edges on the side you are going to winch from helps. I always used old...
Nice looking truck and a cute co-pilot you have there!! You probably won't be able to get her out of it anytime soon either. My 15yo daughter figured out how to start and stop my (hers!, as I was informed) deuce on day two!
Welcome to the club and now ya need a CUCV and a trailer!!! MV's are...
In Louisiana you have to have a POST certified officer do the VIN check and it does not matter if it is a State, Parish (County), or Local officer. This would be for the easy ones, VIN tags on and in the right places, etc.
If your vehicle is missing data plates, etc., you have to have one of...
No problem and glad I could help! Let us know of the outcome!
Might want to look into keeping the 24volt bulbs in stock. No one in Lake Charles has them in stock, and I looked! I got a good price on some new ones from a local vendor we use at work but I had to wait 4 days for them. PM me if...
They do get pretty hot, as it is a diesel. What is the ambient temp for your neck of the woods? Its 80 down here and you can feel the heat coming off the engine.
Have you checked the fluids?
What we do when we resurect a boat from the dead:
Roll over engine to ensure it is not locked.
1. Change Oil and Filters, Note the conditon of the filters and the goo (hopefully not) on the inside of the filter housing.
2. Change Fuel Filters, observe as in #1.
3. Check heat exchangers...
Danged nice 1009, Mudstone! You might want to camo the wheels before ya get flamed though!!!! Have Fun!!
You can find info on the m1009 thermo in the resource pages or just by looking through the posts for CUCVs.
Kims radiator in Sulphur is the best around here. We use them for all the industrial stuff we have and I have brought them marine heat exchangers as well. When I show up, they always come out as they never know what i'll bring. If they cant fix it, its not repairable. Good Luck!
If you look in...
