    I went with hellas#003427291 from Summit ,because you can replace bulbs not the whole assembly,takes HB-2 bulbs,I also did the harness upgrade from lmc trucks,huge improvement..was gonna do silverstars but noticed 150hr. life and went with hellas,because of replaceable bulbs,silverstar also...

    cold start

    Hasdrubal,are these the o-rings between the filter and filter base plate,and where can i purchase these o-rings,my 1009 runs awesome at anything above idle,but idles rough,seems like the more i change fuel filter the worse it idles.

    Since my 1009 has 10bolt 8.5 inch ring and pinions can i pull open carrier and gears from my 8.5 with 373s and put in my diffs?and add powertrax posi,both 28 spline ?

    thats kind of what I was thinking,my wrench set only went to 11/16,thanks Barrman,would a crowsfoot make this job easier,or just use 3/4 line wrench?

    thanks guys it runs so good other than at idle I dont think its filter sock,I do notice some bubbles when i bleed fuel filter drain though, but ill try injectors next,its my first diesel,so still learning....would this affect mpg ?

    Ever since I ran my 1009 out of fuel it idles kinda funny,it sorta studders occasionally,its really hard to descibe,it will idle smoothly then go woomf woomf woomf quickly then smooth out again,but does this sporadically,hot or cold,I have changed fuel filt. twice but still does it,truck runs...

    i really like the moroso spiral flow,i have 3inch with tailpipes,wish i had gone 3.5,but im happy with it,you can hear it on youtube,just search rsh4364,kinda loud accelerating but pretty mellow at cruising speed..

    I looked at the other block heaters and liked the kimhotstart unit because it has a thermo-stat and its rebuildable,read mixed reveiws on the others,the directions are not vehicle specific and thought maybe someone on here may have installed on a cucv..this one needs input to be low on cooling...

    after reading richs post went looking for a multi positional wench,had no luck at all ! got slapped a few times so i gave up and installed new hydrobooster,master cylinder ,calipers, pads, and completely changed all brake fluids...much better..8.99 for 11oz. dot 5 ? by the way rich that truck is...

    agreed if you can upgrade for same cost,do it,but the 8.5 is a pretty healthy rear,gov-lock maybe not,on a street/strip car they handle 500-600 hp and equal ft.lbs. easily...

    Ordered a hotstart block heater# TPS151gt-10 000,input should be lowest point of cooling system,was thinking about maybe making a t to put in lower radiator hose,but im sure theres probably an easier way,any thoughts or advice.Thanks. 85 1009 6.2,Ive also heard someone sells a freeze plug...

    In the gm G-body world the 8.5 10 bolt is a much sought after rear,usually go for 1k-1500$,they were used in Buick GrandNationals and Olds 442s,not trying to start an argument,
