If the bearings were in good shape and all lubed up, I would say it's a brake dragging. It may not be fully disengaging after you use it. I'm sure someone with more expertise will chime in.
Cryogen, hit me up some time and we can take mine out for a spin. I'm waiting at the moment for my EUC to clear for another one that I bought out of Hooks. You are more than welcomed to come by and check them out.

I agree with what everyone else has said. The biggest isssues are the economy and the fact you can still acquire these items dirt cheap off of GL or GSA. I know you run the risk of it being crap and the items aren't in the best condition but most folks seem to be willing to take the risk. I...
ghost, At some point in the future (once my EUC clears) I'll be heading to Hooks to towbar a deuce back home. You are more than welcome to come hang out with us when we do it.
If you decide to drive it back, I would recommend posting your route and get some contact info for some members willing to help if you run into problems on the way home.
Wow.... My wife was actually cool about my first deuce but the **** hit the fan on the second. So I sold it and now she is actually coming around. I just bought another deuce and she was actually happy for me. She says she wants someting with power steering so that will be the next buy :)
Just FYI: I recovered Fred's deuce and trailer this morning and he can now rest easy. It is sitting all nice and safe at the Thibeau Military Depot aka my backyard :)
