Why do some of the dueces have either injection then to aid in cold starting? Granted it is not to be used unless 20 deg. F or lower. Is it because they have a different compression ratio and no glow plugs? I always use it in the winter and it really saves a lot of cranking time.
RE: Hardtop underside
Mine have looked like that too. The only difference has been the color of the inner panels. I have one with green panels and one was white. All the frame work has been green.
Thats good to know. Guess I'll keep the sincgars 3900 base and mast now that I know it can be used with the rt524. I hate to think what a sincgars encrypted radio would go for, if you could even find one.
Bjorn, I also would like to put the vic-1 in my duece. I may need to pick your brain on how...
I saw your flyer Dave. Sounds like a blast. Would like to attend, I'll check the schedule. Especially the drive on the dunes..... that's always a good time. Orange flag on the antenna mast should work. :)
The radios can go for more. That base is used with the singars radio, don't know if it will work with the rt 524. It also uses a different antenna element. You will want an mx-6707 (tunable) base with the as-1730 (lower) and the as-1095 (upper) antenna elements.
Bjorn, I paid $113 for mine, seemed like a fair price. Picked up the cables "here and there". It needed the tube and crystal. I know a guy that took it in and put the parts in and checked it over. Said it works great. The antenna even automatically tunes itself to the right frequency. All I get...
Chuck, there is a guy on ebay that sells the common removed parts. Think his handle is "oldbuzzardrich". I'm going by memory but I think it is the a2000 crystal, tube and heat sink. You have the tube though. I think the other parts go in from the bottom. Let me know when you get it hooked up...
Sounds like a plan. Yup, I still need a rear bo light, thanks.
CCATLETT1984 I'll get with you too so you can meet here too. How did the body work turn out? Did you get the truck done? Pics man, we want pics.
I went to Jackson a few years ago. All the balloons were cool. I'm going to Clare though, and so is ojsdna44. I'm kinda centrally located so you could meet at my house and we can all convoy up.
Inside and out painted with Gillespie paint, 24087 semi luster, Vietnam era. I used hardener with the paint and it made a huge difference in the end result. It should help with repairability too. Slightly more luster but definately not glossy.
It's been a few months but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm currently putting the interior back together. I'll post pics of that when it's complete and more of the exterior, if anyone is interested. This is the only 'after' exterior shot I have at the moment.
BTW, I still need...
When I was the product engineer for steel fuel tanks and we (Delphi), got out of the steel tank business, a company in Montreal bought alot of our presses, dies and tools. They now produce a majority of the steel tanks for the aftermarket. Their name is Spectra Premium. I'm not sure who...
