I just pulled my column apart and cleaned, lubed, and replaced the standard lock cyl. with a civvy one. It's not bad. Just take your time and don't force anything.
Good looking truck!
I've only seen pictures of the swingfire heater. Does anyone actually have one?
How does this sound, maybe the swingfire was used to warm up the arctic kit heaters before they were started? :)
A hearty welcome to you Andy.
We would have the opposite problem here as the vehicles you speak of are few and far between on this side of the pond. Feel free to post pictures of your collection... hint, hint. :)
You are right Bjorn, with a good snow sitting on the fender, the mushroom is covered up. I had a 'no start' the first time I went to start mine after a good snow. Checking the intake is now part of the 'pre-flight' checklist.
Hey Kenny. Yes I can look it over next week for you. Rizzo may be joining me too. I wouldn't have a way to get it out though, but he might.
That is a neat trailer. Selfridge had some of those not too long ago and I don't think they went for all that much.
You sure did a beautiful job Dave. I love the vietnam era look. Did you use the Rick Larson stencils? I just got my dropside bed painted today. I'm restoring it back to the 24087 color too. Hoping to have the rest done within the next month or two. We will have to take them to a show or two this...
Good question. You're thinking that because it won't have the same air flow on the pans. I don't think the difference would be noticable because it has an oil cooler. I would think that if it did cause a problem, there would be something in the TM warning you against running it in hot weather...
I just had my dropside box sandblasted and it's THE ONLY way to go. It had the heavy flaky rust and multiple layers of paint though.
But you're right, you need the industrial equipment for something that large.
Chuck, if thats the same one I saw down there last month, its a rot box. As in POS. I'm going down there next week so I'll check it out again for ya if you want.
For even better fuel economy, you can replace the civvy intake with a cucv intake, less restriction. It's good for almost 20 extra hp. If you pull the ip, that would be a good time to make the switch.
