I posted this on another site when we got into a DT466 discussion. There NOT that big a motor. Completely in-truck rebuildable...not too bad. Only 466 cubes though. Heh,heh. [^]
Does a Geo count?
A guy ran a stop sign and plowed into the side of my M715 about two years ago. I was doing about 35mph and got a pretty good kick sideways and up from it...dirt tracked it and shut it down. I got out expecting to see some pretty decent damage to my truck and...I could...
The Military did new. I put the 3116 cause I *think* it's the motor in the A3's. Next big motor swap I do is gonna have a Jake on it so I can rumble in to stops.
Yeah, the hoods don't look right. The last 'A3 on GL sold for like $43,000. Please tell me one thing...any of you...WHAT THE F**K IS UP WITH THAT!??!?!!!!!
Buy a normal GL winch truck for $3800.
Buy a CAT 3116 for $5500.
Buy an Allison for $4000
Buy some big single wheels and...
When I first got mine I had to drive it from the Jersey shoreline to central Pa on the PA Turnpike. Jerkwad I got it from told me batteries were good and charging system was good too. I turned on the headlights...just to be a good boy while driving a humongous uninsured vehicle on the...
I keep my eye on GL and GSA. I'm kinda out of the truck acquiring market for a lil' while unless its that sweet old wrecker I posted a month ago. A guy just dropped of his Rockwells (a pair of steer axles) for a burly M715 project with full front and rear hydro steer, rear spool, front...
Oh come on man...when you see a third winch on the deuce mounted on the side where the spare tire originally was, THEN...I'll be showing off. [^]
[thumbzup]
My M715 with Rockwells and that jazz is on page 40 of the current issue of Four Wheeler Magazine in the Editor's top 60 to have the readers vote on to make the field of 10 for Top Truck Challenge.
For the amount you'd use the rear steer, couldn't you use like an older...and for example "Dyna-Mite" electric/hydraulic pump plow control? Push right, rear goes right...etc. As far as strength, those big U-joints should hold up fine. Just make sure to keep the king pins greased.
I'm putting a 6.2 to a NV4500 trans in Katie's M715. I didn't want to go with the stock bellhousing and forced hydraulic linkage so I picked up and old lakewood scattershield so I'd be able to modify it. Had to relocate three of four threaded inserts, redrill housing of transmission, open up...
A littly fyi on the heater cores (THANKS JOE it's in!!!) there are slight variations between heater cores and the boxes they mount in. I got a core from Joe and thought it would slap in. The hole in the top of the mounted box for the bleeder(?) was off by about 1/4" from fitting when the other...
I used a 13" single disc truck clutch. Full pad on disc not the 6 pucks like the deuces. If my CAT was at 275hp or more, I'd go with a twin disc set up.
Okay...it's been a while, but if I recall correctly...the 3053A's bell is an SAE #3, the CAT had an SAE #2 and the Multifuel had some messed...
I want a video and a timer on the that drive thru exhibition! [^] ounds like a plan to me! I've thought of picking up a rolling chassis and a spare front axle and making some mini hemmit thing.
