    Bad Fuel Pump... Rebuildable???

My gasser's fuel system had been butchered by the previous owners in an effort to get the truck running... fuel lines cut (they were looking for a clog?), new fuel pump, electric pumps added... and none of it worked so they ended up running the truck off a coffee can of gas. I discovered that...

    Reo Gasser Ignition Wiring diagrams?!?!?

Dave Walker has NOS gasser front wiring harnesses... Very reasonable prices. I'd just replace it all. My V-18A/MTQ's wiring looked like yours, so I got a replacement... easier, cheaper. Dave Walker 760-244-8060 Jon

Popcorn, Old Men, and Big Green Iorn

That looks like fun. What a nice bunch of old fellas. WWII fascinates me... I'm sure those guys have stories I'd love to hear.

    M35 Alternator terminal repair

The stud on mine snapped off flush... I thought it was steel when I was tightening it, but it's not. (Some kind of white brass or a nickel alloy? It could even be pure silver.) I drilled and tapped 1/4-20 and used a brass bolt instead of the stud. Jon

    Holey crap, that's nice!

    windshield gasket

It's recommended that you not use that glass-to-frame gasket... it causes rust by letting water sit in the frame. I bought brand new front window assemblies and used a razor blade to cut away that rubber gasket and then sealed the glass into the frame using Permatex Windshield sealant from...

    Military lettering

:ditto: Paint stripper is great... blisters off one layer at a time. My bumpers had about 15 layers of paint on them, and I was able to uncover the stencils on each layer and determine all my truck's assignments throughout it's 40 year life. You may still be able to get all your truck's...

    Allison Trans fluid type????

The "MIL-L-2104" spec is, as far as I know, only for engine oils... and "GRD 10" probably means to use a 10 weight. You'll want to be sure before you do anything, but I'd say you're looking for a light weight engine oil, or it's appropriate modern substitute... Like Smitty says, I think I'd...

    Vegoil destroys engines?

I'm saving up mootor oil, too! I'm filling my deuce's old (dented) fuel tank with it, and I want to filter it and cut it with diesel... up to maybe 25% mootor oil. I'm tired of giving fuel to my local AutoZone's recycling tank!

    Getting ready to paint

It's probably not as bad as you think... I doubt the truck is damaged - I suppose the tie rod could be bent but if so it could be adjusted. At the very worst, you lost a pair of $19.99 Harbor Freight jack stands.

    1960s Tailgate Stencil Locations

Thanks Guys! That's exactly what I was looking for. I really like the 10" star centered over the rib, and it follows my interpretation of TB 746-93-1: "The National Symbol marking will be located on the largest regular area and as near as possible to the center of such area." "The National...

Does this look like it will work?

What are you trying to do, Will? Just move the trailer light behind your pickup once or twice, or loaded down in longer term service? That's a stout looking bracket you've made... There's a lot of steel and a lot of weld there. I can't picture it breaking. I'd run it. 8) Jon

Definitely. That's how I would do it. I'd want to catch them in the act! Jon

    ID needed Fairbanks Morse part

The FM engines are also used - to this day - as marine engines in "smaller" ships that would need an engine in the 3,000 hp range yet have space enough for something 20' long, 8' wide, 10' tall that weighs probably 20 tons. Coast Guard cutter size, maybe? Jon

    1960s Tailgate Stencil Locations

Hi Group, My 1967 M35A2 is coming back together after painting it semi-gloss OD (US Army). I have paint masks from Rick Larsen, and will be ready to stencil the truck soon. Everything about stenciling my truck is clear to me except for the tailgate area... I've read TB 746-93-1, and looked...

    cooling system maintenence

Update on radiator hoses: Back in March I bought the "correct" lower radiator hose from Antelope Valley. I believe it is "New Star" brand. I put it on at that time, but the truck has not yet been driven since that time because I am not done re-assembling it after repainting... In fact I never...

    Broken bolt windshield

Good advice, Ken. I had actually planned to replace my hinge bolts, since they had the torch cut remains of the old mirrors on them. After wailing on the threads with a hammer I had the hinges apart, but I discovered that replacement hinge bolts are not economically available and mine were now...

Transfer Case Jumping out of High

The TMs state that popping out of gear is due to worn gears or bearings. This is assuming, of course, no other obvious cause like linkage adjustment or broken / missing detent ball, plunger or spring. It's cheaper to swap out the defective transfer case for a good used one than it is to...
