In have seen several vehicles where the brake light circuit is run through the turn signal switch. I'm sure this is done to supply power to the 4-way flashers which in turn flashes the brake light filaments. Just a thought. Maybe an open in the turn signal switch? Do you have a schematic?
Also, I would trace your light wiring where it passes through fenders and frame parts to see if you might have scuffed the insulation off of the wires. Maybe do this before you purchase another switch. If you don't find any problems with wire scuffing, go for the new switch.
I don't think it's as bad as one would think. The chain covers have a "weep hole" in the middle to help with drainage of the water. I've had just some minor surface rust on my chains. They also have hog rings on them to keep them in the proper place on the chain.
A fellow MV owner offered up a unique tool to solve the problem:
Panel Bulb Removal Device Part No. NSN 93-210070-456/R (rev B.)
I have not used one, but it's worth a try, Saturn Surplus, or Erik's maybe?
If my 003 sits for a few months, she will be stubborn trying to start her. I've found opening the bleed screws on the filter housings until fuel comes out, seems to persuade her to start. I pre-heat for about 45 seconds.
Just think though, it would take just one time for an Agent to catch it not parked in the barn and there would be all kinds of heck to pay. I don't think it's worth the penalty to get caught defrauding the insurance company. Just my 2cents.
