I concur with Kenny, put the original companion seat back in and add another seat belt. The bolt holes are already there so there's no fabbing to do. Their little butts won't care care about the companion seat being so uncomfortable.
I thought I saw Shear Pins on Saturn's site before. Give Jay at Saturn a call and ask him about availability. I looked at Jatonka's site also. Give John a call and ask him the same.
Sometimes it just takes another pair of eyes and some 'Ol Man experience to come up with something that can work. You have a few ideas here to work with, think it out and submit photos, we like photos!
I don't think there is anything you can do when you have a cell short or open, but maybe our Resident Vehicle Electric Guru, Bjorn, can advise on that one. Sweet pontoon, Don. I'm sure we'll enjoy version 2.0 with the shelter on her. I wish I could say my "daily driver" was a pontoon boat...
If you cut the uprights down, your cover won't fit well. The bottom will drop down below the bed-hooks and you won't be able to tie the cargo cover down correctly. Move those pesky light fixtures! You can always fold your cargo cover up and place it on top of the cab and then just lay the bows...
Here is what I use. I am spoiled on this charger, desulphater, maintainer, conditioner. You can attach this one unit to your battery(ies), and get the benefits of four different charging features. Wait for Northern to put the unit on sale, usually you can save about $50. I keep my Battery Minder...
Does this set-up make you think twice before checking the batteries? Nice idea if you're disciplined enough to un-lock the lock, remove the can, remove the two bolts, flip the holder down, check batteries, and then reverse the procedure. Good idea, I hate yankin' the battery box out anyway.
Both my top plate and back plate are deformed from some knuckehead Airman sucking the grab-hook past them. I would be interested in (2) of them. Jay at Saturn Surplus has new dataplates that could be riveted on for someone interested in the OEM look.
Not even anywhere near a good idea. Cheaper? You won't think "a whole lot cheaper" when that winch comes apart.
That roll pin is way harder than the correct aluminum OEM pin. These fixes might be OK in a dire need situation, but still not worth the winch exposing it's innards. Just my 2cents.
Just as others have said, I use low range when backing, in parades, starting out with heavy loads, and pulling stumps. We were trained in school to "split-shift" and not be reluctant to do it when required.
Is there a larger unit (perhaps a 12-15k one) that shares parts?
I'm not sure, maybe the more experienced genset Gurus will chime in. You probably won't need anything larger than a 10kw (003A) to power the house when it's off the grid.
Was planning on venting the exhaust, hadn't thought of...
Welcome to the Site, there is a wealth of knowledge here. I'll try and answer what I can as I am the proud owner of a MEP-003A.
1) Very easy to use. Once the genset has been set at the correct speed for 60hz, you should never need to adjust it again. Voltage adjustment is done by turning a knob...
