M756 Pipeline Bed install /redneck engineering

Joel, those are MB 240D's, the '83 is for my daughter (17) and the '76 is a parts car. Yes, she will be driving on biodiesel (of course :-)). The fuel tank won't be heated, so the BD will be for summer time driving only.

Plans for California trip in the works

Yes, it's still possible, but it'll be slow going for you, my max speed with the laundry trailer will probably only be about 55. I'll keep you posted with dates and times. The return trip is more interesting when we both have the deuces.

M756 Pipeline Bed install /redneck engineering

Spent most of last Monday at the sawmill to make sure Joel's (BFR) locust would be sawed. They had actualy done a load of white oak instead and insisted that the locust they had wasn't any good. They finally gave in and I got my locust. :-) Today I brought the deuce to the sawmill and picked up...

    Gauging the deuce

Drove the deuce about a hundred miles today and checked the "viscosity meter". It's actually an indication of the operation of the FDC and it read 13 volts for diesel fuel at about 75°F and 15 volts for my current mix of biodiesel and veggie oil also at 75°F. When the fuel was heated to 135°F...

    Mud runs

Baja, you shouldn't have to worry about the breather valves on the axle housings, they only open when the pressure within the axle housing exceeds about 1/2 psi. They won't let water in.

    Gauging the deuce

This is another repeat posting that I'd like to add on to in the future so here goes. My assortment of gauges now includes a viscosity gauge. It is now operational and shows about 13 volts for diesel fuel and 14-15 volts for biodiesel/veggie oil. More info will be posted as test runs are...

    USMC deuce markings

This is a repeat of some of the info lost due to hacker vandalism. I stenciled markings on the deuce as per original pictures (images below). The number on the hood turns out to be the first 6 digits of the vehicle id number on the dash.

    Crane boom markings

The original posts were lost, but I thought this was an interesting subject and will repeat it here. I now have the information I asked for thanks to Kenny, it comes from TB 746-93-1.

Plans for California trip in the works

I need some advise here, to deliver the laundry trailer to Eureka, NV, I have at least two routes in mind, one going cross country on I-40 to Flagstaff, AZ and then North to Eureka. A second route is going cross country on I-70 to Denver and then I-50 to Eureka. My question is, which route would...

    USMC deuce markings

When I picked up my M49A2C fuel tanker back in 1995, it only had two sets of markings, "2640" on the doors and "USMC 353418" on the sides of the hood. The hood markings were 1" size only. Is it normal for a USMC vehicle to not have bumper markings and only have the numbers shown here?

    Airpack Teardown

You may not need a rebuild kit. Carefully take the airpak apart, claen all parts and reassemble. There is a u-cup seal in the slave cylinder that can cause the leak into the air cylinder. It's important that the u-cup seals are installed correctly, with the "open" end facing the high pressure...

    Heating the WVO/biodiesel

I'm sure. Sometimes I run on diesel only and if there wasn't a selectable return, the fuels would soon be mixed. The aux tank would be drained 20 minutes if it had 10 gallons in it. It takes about 75 seconds to "purge" the system when switching over.

    Heating the WVO/biodiesel

RE: heating As in return flow to the fuel tank? I have measured 2 qts/minute at idle, slightly higher for higer rpms.
