Painted the bikini top white today. I could swear it felt cooler inside with the sun beaming down on it....
I purposly left the edges camo to make the white top less visible from the ground walking around the truck.
Thanks, that sound like a good price, thought they were higher.
My antenna base is the AS-3900 and is not tuned with the radio tuner. Not sure what frequency it is set for, 30 Mhz?
If you can't drain the block (plugs seized or whatever), repeatedly drain/fill the raditor, run until t-stat opens to mix all coolant. Do it over, 4 or 5 times. This will leave only a small percentage of the original coolant in the system. The last fill-up will be with antifreeze plus additives...
Yeah, Chuck, keep us up to date on this!
I for one, am following this with interest since I'm all set for the radio, got the Mt-1029 mount, MX-7778 suppressor, antenna and the VIC-1 intercom installed and all set to go. What is a reasonable price to pay for the RT-524?
Thanks,
Continous duty means that it can run at rated power forever. On my trips it runs at 2,200 to 2,600 rpm for 10 to 12 hours straight and it just loves it purring along. The replacement Cat engines are not rated continous duty at full power.
In a cab that isn't sound insulated and with an exhaust...
First time I had occasion to remove the radiator, I found 1/2 cup full of coresand and debris in the lower radiator hose. After cleaning it, I installed a coolant filter (see image).
Coolant "wears out" even if the truck isn't operated, replace it with fresh every 2 to 3 years and use additives...
RE: alt fuel cost/benefits
Good question Adam. The way I see it, it's an investment over a period of time, I put in a few hours each week and spend some money on lye and methanol as I go along accumulating fuel.
When time comes for a trip, like the last one to GA/FL, during which I used some...
Eric, if you do have it done, please let us know what pattern they use, how many sipes/lug etc.
I understand that if a machine is used, some edges may be cut and rubber torn off.
Thanks,
Yeah, losing the source for used cooking oil is often on my mind. I have picked up oil from Jim's Grill here for over a year about once or twice a week and have no other source should they change their mind about giving it to me.
A good supply of WVO is important, that's for sure.
If you are running your truck on a large percentage of WVO, then heating the fuel in the tank only is not going to be sufficient. Think about the cold cooking oil in the filters, fuel lines and IP.
...and you will also need to heat the fuel while driving, so a coolant heater in the tank will...
A couple of images of today's activities.
The tool cuts six slits in one pass and that's all I'm going to to, I start at the outside of the contact area and finish close to the center of the tire.
The sipes are difficult to see, looking like fine lines in the rubber.
Andy, the issues that apply to the M35 deuce will generally be from the 60's or 70's. They usually run about $3 to $5/ea, but some will sell for two or three times as much. Yeah, ebay is your best bet.
I have actually tried to upload most of what I have available into the PS mag section about...
Good show Kenny! I still have enough of the surplus harnesses to just cut and splice the wires, the Packard connectors are already done, well you know, you have some of those.
Always a good feeling doing things to Mil Spec...:-)
Are you buying the connectors in bulk? From where?
Rizzo, coking as I understand it , builds up over time and comes from starting on cold WVO, which may leave a residue. WVO is also acid and leaving it in the system when the engine isn't used may cause other problems in the long run.
With a two-tank system, only regular diesel is left in the...
My T-stat? Yes it has been checked. Actually cooked it on the stove and observed the action with a thermocouple probe in the water. It begins to open around 180-185°F.
I can run the engine at idle for a long period of time with the radiator cap off..no circulation until the T-stat begins to open...
