    Mystery Bracket

Wow, thanks everyone! Mystery solved! What era are decon bottles from? It doesn't seem like something that was original to the truck... I'll have to keep an eye on eBay... I hate empty brackets almost as much as vacant holes in fenders! Regards, Jon

    Walker Auto & Truck Wrecking

I'm fortunate to live only about a mile from Walker Auto & Truck Wrecking here in Hesperia, CA. He has 3 or 4 Deuces for parts, most are fairly complete, all are rust free. He also has another 4 or 5 Deuces for sale complete and running. Jeep parts, CUCV, HMMWV and some HEMTT parts also...

    Mystery Bracket

This is on the driver's side fender. At first I assumed it was for a fire extinguisher, but I've never seen one like it before. I've heard of "decontamination bottles"... Is that what mounts there? Better yet, anyone got one to sell? I've never seen anything like this in any MV boneyards...

    How much grease?

I'm half way through the bearing and seal R&R of the rear axles - passenger side is now done. When I got the hubs off, I no longer had any uncertainty as to how much grease to use... The answer is a LOT! The hubs weren't completely full, but I scooped out several big handfulls of yellow GAA...

Deuce registration and drivers license in California

Ron -- I just noticed a key word... You said your m52 was TITLED as a historic vehicle? Or did you mean titled commercial but REGISTERED historic? I never thought of that... Getting the title to read historic instead of commercial. Do you think the DMV in Sacramento will do it?

Deuce registration and drivers license in California

Wow, that's some helpful new information - Thank you all! I wonder if the DMV in Sacramento will do that for me? I doubt it, I've started to think I'm going to get a bill for weight fees. If that's the case, I wonder what I should do next? (I ain't payin' 'em when everyone else pays...

Deuce registration and drivers license in California

Has anyone registered their Deuce as a Historical Vehicle in California recently? I was at the DMV the other day and they could not find an "exemption code" that would allow the computer to process my registration without charging me weight fees... I very politely asked for the manager, who...

    How much grease?

But no additional grease in the hub between the bearings? I guess it would never reach the bearings anyway. If everyone puts grease only in the bearings themselves it must be enough!

    How much grease?

I've been reading about rear axle maintenance as I'm getting ready to R&R the bearings and seals. When re-installing the wheel bearings, I am instructed to use a bearing packer, which I will do. But is that all the grease that should be used? It doesn't seem like much, and I would think that...

GO & GAA lubricants (they're back again!)

BNSF! Nice to see so many people with Deuces here in So.Cal., I'm looking forward to going to MV shows or meets so I can meet other owners and look at others' trucks... Right now, mine is in "as found" condition, fresh from the GL auction, although I bought it from Mark Blair (of "Mark's Green...

GO & GAA lubricants (they're back again!)

Shell Dentax Thanks for the replies... But you're not using Dentax GL-1 in your differentials are you? I would want an EP type gear oil for that... As for OE, I'm also using heavy-duty 30w, Chevron DELO 400, which is basically the same as Rotella. For grease, I suppose I could just use GAA...

GO & GAA lubricants (they're back again!)

Hi Group, I've been lurking for quite a while, and recently bought a 1968 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2. I bought one that had not run in a very long time, but I had no trouble getting it up and running (blown fuel pump fuse, clogged fuel filters, and air in the lines) and now it runs great. Blind...
