    MEP-016 SX460 AVR shuffle?

Yes, once I replace the rotor, the sx460 had no problem firing up once again, with no need to flash it. I think my error initially was that I quickly tested the excite winding and the 3 stator windings from the leads. You would have to remove the electronics enclosure to access the end of the...

    Yet another mep002a wireing question:

X2! I agree, that electrician was probably talking about a generator tied to an existing grounded system, not a stand alone. The metal frame of the machine just sitting on the earth isn't going to do a whole lot to protect you. Not to mention a lot of folks have machines up off the ground or on...

    MEP-016 SX460 AVR shuffle?

I'm giving the award to Derf on this one. Rather than mess with a field flash circuit for the SX460 I pulled the generator apart and found this. This machine has just over 500 hours on it and the rotor winding has somehow rubbed on the stator and wore through the winding. Looking at the...

    Yet another mep002a wireing question:

You are correct Chainbreaker. The neutral and ground should remain bonded and a ground rod attached to the chassis ground. That will teach me to stop multi-tasking while I'm supposed to be paying attention to a work Teams meeting! But generator talk is still more interesting than WORK.

    Yet another mep002a wireing question:

As Coug mentioned, make sure you are set to the 12/240 3:00 position on your AC select switch. ( located under the flap to the left of the circuit breaker on an 002A ) and the AM/VM switch on the control panel is also at 3:00 Hook up your 50A spider box and you will have 120 and 240V available...

    Yet another mep002a wireing question:

You are wired to the wrong lugs in that picture. You need to have your hot legs on L1 and L3 you currently have them on L2 and L3 With the AC select switch in the 3:00 position you have power on L1 and L3 with L0 being neutral / ground. Move from L2 to L1 and you should be good!

    MEP-016 SX460 AVR shuffle?

Looking for a little assistance with an SX460. I recently installed one in an MEP-016D, per this thread, fired it up and it worked perfectly. The customer used the machine for about a week and last night it stopped making power. I looked at it today and the field and Gen windings appear to be...

    What color is this 806a?

As for paint, your best bet is going to be to repaint the whole thing. There is nothing available at the local box store that will match very good. If you really want to make it look like it did when new , use Rapco parts # 34094 383 Green CARC substitute. If you don't have a spray gun you can...

    240V 3ph on MEP-806B. Is it safe?

A quick note about the computers.... almost every single computer, laptop, desktop etc. made these days uses an auto switching power supply that will accept anything from 90 to 265VAC 50 or 60 Hz. The reason for this is: 1) so they can tolerate mild brown out and surge voltages and 2) so the...

MEP806 wheel kit DIY or ?

Up above did you mean lawn? If so, you won't be using casters. You're going to need something with probably 8" or larger pneumatic tires if you want to roll across the lawn, especially if it's soft down there in Florida. How about hiring a flat bed car carrier for an hour? Would they be able to...

    MEP006A Voltage Conversion

You should go on line and look up the complete single phase conversion procedure. If it was done properly there are 3 more small wire connections that need to be put back in their original positions on the back of the reconfiguration board. These other connections would have been moved to make...

    MEP806A Double Delta Single Phase

So back to the earlier question, what are you trying to power up with this? and is it a prime source or backup? There are much better options available if you don't need 60Kw of single phase power. Or if you do need it, how will it be utilized? You may be able to load each of the 3 legs to...

    Stall mat question

Most folks that have discussed stall mats here have used the 3/4" from what I have read. However that is probably because they mainly use the ones from Tractor Supply which are normally 3/4" Either thickness would surely be sufficient when you calculate the Square Inches in contact with the mat...

    MEP806A Double Delta Single Phase

Correct, you can get single phase easily, but would need to do some creative wiring to try to get even close to 60Kw out of it! You don't want to run that gen for long periods of time with very little load and you don't want to grossly imbalance one leg with all your load and nothing on the...

    MEP806A Double Delta Single Phase

Keep in mind 2 of the wires are field excite wires, so a 12 wire head has 14 wires total, 12 fat power wires and 2 smaller field wires.

    MEP 802a No Fuel Indicator

Yes, a somewhat common problem. There's several threads discussing this on this forum. Usually comes down to either the lower float of the dual float switch in the tank or an issue with the float module mounted inside the tank area on the right, small metal box bolted to the right side. Check...

    MEP806A Double Delta Single Phase

Correct, 804 and up should be a 10 wire.... or that's what we've all been told for years. The 004 005 and 006 can be reconfigured to run single phase at full rated output, but the 804 and up can not due to the last 2 wires being connected internally somewhere... If I recall correctly, a member...

    Mep 803a hydro locked

Nice, thanks Guy. Looks interesting. I have had a couple 803's with Arctic heaters installed but they were a different model heater. Maybe the " Canadianized" machines sourced a different model. I'll check the TM to satisfy my curiosity.
