Yes, the M125 cargo trucks were built in the mid-to-late 1950s, and they were powered with a LeRoi TH-844 V8 gas engine with 297bhp at 2600rp, which at the time was the only wheeled vehicle in inventory with an 8-cylinder engine. I believe the early M123 tractors also had this engine, before...
BTT. It's been a little while since this thread was at the top - lots of new members and trucks since then. Any new before and afters, junker to jewels?
Good work - beats my solution to a bent bumper, I paid $100 for a new one. Now I have the old bent up one laying around doing nothing, but hey, I don't weld.
I don't think I'll ever order from GLSOD. If I want to pay retail prices for surplus items I need, I'll visit a surplus shop and give my money to them. As it turns out, I am pretty thrifty, and I shop more in bulk (which would necessitate buying from GL, but via auction) and at the MV shows.
Heaviest I towed with a deuce was another deuce. Actually I used a non-winch truck to pull a winch truck, so the towed load was about 500-600 lbs. heavier than the towing truck.
As far as trailers, the heaviest I pulled was a 10K lb. laundry trailer with all the laundry equipment on it...
Just got my paid in full invoice, but I think I'm too late for the gent who is going there today to pick them up.
Anyone going to Eglin sometime next week that might be able to get it to the GA rally?
Would like to know more information about the gun trucks in Vietnam, built on the M37 3/4-ton chassis. There were a few made in country, some pics I have of them are below. There is only one reproduction M37 gun truck, the Malfunction, in existence. I would like some more detailed pics, both...
I won one of the tents as well - need someone to pick up and either pack/ship it to me, or give to someone at the GA rally who may be coming up through this way (doghead?). Anyone near the Eglin AFB, please PM me. Thanks.
Thought I'd start a pic thread for the big Gilbert rally, there were a lot of Steel Soldiers there. The weather was perfect, the trucks were absolutely kicka$$, and the buying/selling was great too. Couldn't be any better!
The trip up was uneventful, except for some rain on the way, but the...
Saw this on Craigslist - the seller puts in the ad that it's too uncommon a machine to modify into a rock crawler. Looks like it's very nice shape. 1952 M38A1.... 1952 Willys Jeep M38A1 Army Jeep
Saw this on Craigslist, I don't have the $$$ set aside for it right now, but I'd hate to see this end up in the hands of someone who is going to use it for a beater woodchuck truck. $700 for it, need a brake part or two. A friend saw it and says the body is great, no rust problems.
