    deuce in mags...

In the next DIESEL POWER magazine they will be printing an article on a road trip taken by the editor in what appears to be a deuce and a 5 ton. Should prove to be an interesting article. The March 2006 issue showed the new editor standing on the bumper of a 5 ton. I'll post the article...

    Source for NOS deuce cables

Kenneth, According to what I found on the Saturn site, the throttle cable looked OE. But I could be wrong. IT says it's for the M49, Saturn part number is 8754130. Cost is $12.50. Here is the web page and a picture of that particular cable. Hope this helps...

    Flat spots on deuce tires

Bjorn, I've been leaning towards Michelin myself. Here is the Michelin website that shows 'all tires' for heavy trucks. http://www.michelintruck.com/michelintruck/productguide/newprod/AllTreads.jsp I personally like the XDY-2 in 11R22.5 - but that's because I'm going to Super Singles using...

    Deuce Wrecker Engine Swap

Kenneth, You wouldn't have the measurements of the engine would you? And/or the weight of the engine? Considering a truly bizarre engine swap. But before I take step one, I have to know those two things. Over all dimensions and the weight. I figure the weight will be the 'killer' in this...

    Four fuel pumps

Bjorn, I payed for them this AM. Hopefully I will see them sometime next week or the week after. I THOUGHT that the fuel pump had to be mounted low in the tank. I went over to the LOGSA sight and perused several manuals looking for that exact printout. While I found what the pump looked...

    Color of the USA 6x6?

I've heard this type of story way too many times about 6x6. You are either an HONEST, HAND SHAKE business man, OR YOU ARE NOT. Apparently Mr. Little is NOT. I concur with the statement of staying far away from him.

    Jacking & Blocking

Ida34, I concur. I purchased a set of six ton jack stands from Harbor Freight also. I figured that they SHOULD hold at least three tons each. And I hope the weight of the truck and whatever axle I have in the air while changing tires is less than that. Having said that, I also put them on a...

    Four fuel pumps

I bought these late last night. One of them is NOS, two of the other three motors work and the fourth will be for parts. I am hoping to have two fuel tanks on my truck shortly. I will be keeping the two that the motors work and rebuilding them for myself. Randy Barnes had a fuel pump that...

    MV security

Several great suggestions here. I don't know about anyone else, but in my truck, the transfer case shift lever has a flat spot with a hole in it. And there is a tab attached to the floor that also has a hole in it. When you put the transfer case in neutral you can slip a lock through the...

    N00b! from Texas

Predator, WELCOME! We have lots of people here who can help you in your quest for the 'right' Green Iron for you. And lots of them live in Texas. I escaped from Houston a LOONG time ago, never to return. Except for some minor incursions into West Texas for family events. Again, welcome. jim

    block heaters

xyzzy, Welcome. That's the 6.2 diesel, right? I owned an 88 Sub that had the same engine and you could purchase a block heater directly from the local dealer. Wasn't cheap, like about $100, but if you look around I'm sure you can do better. How's the snow up there this week? From the looks...

    Buying a Deuce

Bomber166, I was in your exact position about six months ago. I FINALLY settled on a deuce. I have been looking for a retired MV for several years. Unimog, Pinzgauer, Volvo C303/C306, finally US MV's. While I really wanted a five ton, after mucho research, I found that about the only major...
