    M101A2 ring thickness?

I want to think the thickness is 1.5". They fit tight in the standard civy hitches but they do work.

Mod of the day - bed crane

The only thing I'd be worried about with this setup is impacts are awfully hard on things like this when used often. The hammering is what gets them. It reminds me of back in high school shop class. We had just rebuilt a small Briggs engine. We were having trouble getting it to hit and were...

Front Winch End Frame Disassembly Question

The key will have to come out of the shaft before it will pass through the housing. Once it's cleared the fork you can remove the fork and then pull the key out.

    m103 to m105

$275 is not that bad of a price for a good bed. If the bed is local and you have to drive several miles to get to the nearest GL lot means alot if that's the case. I guess I'm just kind of down on GL M105s lately. I got burnt on the last two I picked up. Had alot of hidden problems on both of...

Front Winch End Frame Disassembly Question

This is the set screw I was talking about. Looks like you've got that covered. I have seen them kind of hard to get out before. The last one I delt with it had alot of water in it at some time and was pretty rusty. I ended up soking it for a week in PB Blaster and using my slide hammer (hooked...

Front Winch End Frame Disassembly Question

I'm not really understanding what you're trying to do. Are you trying to replace the shifter seal? If so you need to remove the shaft completely so you'll have to remove the fork and key. You do know that there's a set screw that holds the shaft in place don't you? It fits inside a grove right...

    Hand Crank Deuce

No, the compression will still kick back on you using a ratchet. Tractor hand cranks have a ratchet of sorts that releases the crank when the engine starts. The compression kicks back in the opposite direction though so the ratchet won't prevent it.

    Hand Crank Deuce

I've hand cranked a few old tractors but they were all small 4 cylinders. Don't believe I'd want to try a big diesel. If you've ever cranked an old tractor and had it kick back on compression you'll know what I mean. I'm figuring a multifuel would break your arm.

    GL-1 Gear Oil Alternative

I'm still going to stick with GL-1 as long as I can still get it. I don't know if it's got cow pee or TN river mud in it but my trans seems to like it.

Q's on Towing a loading capabilitys of the deuces

Yes, you will have a problem holding 50-55 with that kind of weight.

    winch pto linkage length

Well I though Travis' first post was a little long but I wasn't going to argue with him because I honestly didn't know for sure. I was going to wait for some more post before I fabbed up the rod though. ;) Anyway, thanks for the help from everybody.

    looking for M35A3 winch parts

I've got a backhoe and have owned several trackhoes so I know a little bit about digging and "lever control". I also have two cranes. There is a big difference in running a set of gin poles and using a winch for winching operations. Anyway, I'm not going to argue anymore I'm just going by using...

    looking for M35A3 winch parts

I don't know how you compare a backhoe to a winch. I'm just going by experience of somebody who has converted a PTO winch to hyd. On our setup you just pull the valve and control line speed by engine rpm. Granted, it moves a little slower than 46 fpm. You may ease into it a little if you've got...

    winch pto linkage length

I've about got my winch install finnished. Only thing I missing is the linkage that goes from the lever to the PTO shift rod. I've got a linkage from a 5-ton but I assume it's not the same. What I need to know is the linkage length so I can either shorten or lengthen the 5-ton linkage to make it...

    Winch bolts

I reused most of my bolts. Had to chase the threads with a die but they worked fine after that. There were a few of the shorter bolts that the threads were too far gone so I had to replace them. You're much better off re-using the bolts if you can. You can get quite a few dollars in bolts if...

    looking for M35A3 winch parts

You'll have a little variable speed with a mechanical valve by feathering the valve but it won't be much. IMO the remote control would far outweigh this. We put a 40,000lb military wecker rear winch on a Kenworth. We converted it to hyd power. I know this 40K winch is alot different but it...

    looking for M35A3 winch parts

I aways thought if I went with a hyd winch I'd go with an electric solenoid valve. That way you could use one of those remote switches on a cord to run the winch ( like alot of electric winches have). I've got hyd on my truck to run the dump. I had a hard time finding a factory made tank that...

    medical oxygen tanks for welding?

This reminds me of a old welder I used to work with. He was a drunk and would come to work hungover sometimes. He would walk to the back of the shop, turn the O2 on the torch on, and take several wiffs right out of the torch tip. He said it helped. Medical O2 is just a purer form of O2 than...

    Noteworthy Gl auction

Those things will bring some serious $$$. There's alot of SS there. It would suprise me if the lot goes close to a million dollars. The sad part is, they probably cost 20 million to build.

    M105 Trailer wiring & build 24v to 12v 4 or 7 pin connection

A stock M105 is way underrated on what it can haul. I had over 4K in mine and the overload sprigs weren't even touching yet.
