Running 70 psi is not good. The tires can take it, but the wheels are limited to 60 psi max. That's why I stop at 55 psi.

Try running 55 psi in the tires. The higher pressure makes my A3 run much smoother.

Don't give up on your old tanks! Many radiator shops will repair fuel tanks for a reasonable fee. If most of the tank is still in good condition, get it repaired.
