I hear ya....but when I found a couple of the complete control boxes and amplifiers for $100 for the whole set, I'm not too worried that I will find a working headset for a good price. I found a source for cables too, I just have to sort through a pile of 2,000 lbs of cables to get to them...

I see writing on the bracket, what does it read? As far as the spool holder, that looks like a generic purpose spool, could've been used for any type of wire.

Anyone with a component list? I have half of the components for the set, but I want to keep an eye out for the remainder when they pop up at shows, eBay, etc. If someone has a -20P or similar parts manual for this VIC-3 set, I'd appreciate any component info you can provide.

No, those look stupid. Put a hood scoop on it, nothing too rounded, something boxy that looks like it belongs there. The "box" reminds me of the hillbilly mods that some did that was a bread pan tack-welded in place....

Are you sure it's correct? AF trucks usually got painted Strata blue. Perhaps it was a Marine Corps truck?

Went to a hamfest this morning, mainly to sell some junk I didn't need. However, as usual, bought more than I sold. Scored a pair of PRC-68 handheld radios in working condition, each with H-189 handsets and antennas, for $150 together. There is a mod out there to allow use of standard 9-volt...

I heard from a reliable source that the number in the military system is just over 1,000. This includes M35A2, A2C, the few A1s still in system, and some M109s. However, I'd guesstimate the number of M35A2 and similar trucks in possession by GSA, as 5 to 10,000.

Well, had a nice meeting, met some new folks, talked about green iron over brunch and coffee. My daughter was in tow, she wasn't thrilled with the truck ride, but oh well, life as a single father. About 60 miles each way from Front Royal to Frederick, not bad. Didn't take many pics - 3...
