Pretty cool. Wonder if someone else in the web-world has some better pics. Hope it's going to go to a caring home that will try to save at least some of it, what's left after 60 years holding up pavement.
Wanted to point a couple things out :
1. I doubt that crawler-dozer is military. The green is wrong, and I don't ever recall reading about Drott selling dozers to the military. Back in the 50s and 60s, CATERPILLAR ruled the military dozer scene.
2. Note on the Chevy's hood, you can still see...
With scrap prices as low as they are now (around $200 a ton), it may have been more profitable to take all their cars and trucks they had in the yard and auction them off. There was a similar auction of classic cars and trucks out of a junkyard in the Midwest back in 2006, netted a good deal...
Work on a trade-off: ask if you can leave a FMTV belonging to your unit in the place of that M35, and bring the old beast home.
Good luck in your quest! Like Ozarker said, no Steel Soldier should be left behind....
That's pretty quick notice, considering today is Sunday. Any way we can back that up until Feb. 1st? I don't have money available until next weekend and I need a 27x18 space.
Last one I saw at Coleman's, out in the weeds, I picked up for $20 in good shape. Plastic battery boxes are where you find them, if I'm ever at a salvage yard, or a parts source, and I see a good deal I pick it up. That one went to builder77, so it's in the truck that was his. Not sure who...
Here's a couple pics of nickd's setup. I like it as well, but from what I understand the front axle is near load limit with the winch etc. up front, the towbar mounted up front doesn't help add tread life to the tires either. I will probably be mounting my towbar in the bed somewhere.
Already did a couple years back when I had "What can green do for you" Steel Soldiers T-shirts. I checked a couple places. What I got was, unless we used the SAME EXACT SLOGAN (i.e. 'what can brown do for you?'), or in some way used the UPS logo in an original or slightly modified fashion, or...

Gee, I wonder what "other charges" the unlicensed driver was arrested for? Could it be the person didn't have a driver's license because they didn't have the documents needed to GET ONE?!?
Hey, wgt, at least you can look at this as being a form of job security! Noone builds them like you!
Looks like a S-250 to me. Also ran a Google search on the AN/TTC-48 set and it came back as being mounted in an S-250.
Are you sure the S-250 is supposed to be 86" long? That's only 7 foot 2 inches. The other measurement of 102" is 8 foot 6 inches. Probably fit a HMMWV or M1028 a little...
