Are you thinking of running several 120V heaters or do you have anything that is 240V? I have a couple 2000W 240V heaters that I hooked up to the terminal lugs then I used a heat gun on the convienence outlet to test my units. If you want to run several 120V devices it would be easy enough to...
This weekend I went to look to see if I have everything I need to hook up an external fuel source to one of my MEP-002A's and noticed that the majority of the fuel lines on the machine are NOT -6 AN fittings but rather 5/16 JIC, as stated earlier in this thread. The return line to the tank is...
Isn't it a great feeling when it first fires up! On the Frequency meter being pegged, your transducer is probably dead.... ask me how I know..... Looks like a perfect candidate for Jimc's 3 pc. gage set!
David, I have 2 of the OEM full glass face ruggedized HZ meters that I don't really need anymore because I have 2 dead HZ transducers. If you decide to go with OEM analog gages I'll sell you one and use the money to get myself a digital one from Jim to fix my 2nd machine with a bad transducer.
Wow, what a score! [thumbzup] Had a similar situation a while ago with an 002A in CT for $350. No phone number in the CL ad and he never replied to my e-mails. I even went as far a posting my own ad looking to get the guy to contact me, but no luck. Eventually his ad expired.... and that was...
At first I was thinking you had an MEP-002A for some reason, now I see it's a 701. I'm not familiar with the batteries in a 701, are they small, like a lawn and garden type battery? A typical replacement battery for a 002A would be a group 51r which typically are 450-550 CCA. 200 CCA might be a...
I think your batteries are getting weak. A drop to 19.5V seems excessive to me. That would equate to less than 10V per battery, which in an automotive application would indicate a weak battery. The quick return to 25v is probably due to the DC charging system giving you a falsely high reading...
Wish I had voted back when this poll started so I could have joined the largest ( and younger ) demographic.... but now I'm 43.... I act like I'm 33 and when I wake up in the morning I ache like I'm 53. I started my Green machine addiction late in life so I have to catch up quick, but a 2 and 5...
If you have a HZ gage that is working but rerading a little off there are 2 adjustments you might be able to make to correct it.
The gage has a screw at the bottom of the needle ( at least the full glass ruggedized ones do ) that I think will allow you to make slight adjustments to the needle's...
M16ty, that's an excellent idea, putting gages at the breaker panel.
Looks like I'll be contacting Jim shortly myself, started up one of my -002a's the other night now and the HZ gage pegs itself high, so I've most likely lost yet another frequency transducer. Just need to decide if I should...
I agree with pulling the valve cover. With all that garbage in the pan I wouldn't be surprized if you found the the passages up in the head blocked off preventing the oil from draining back to the pan fast enough, like 1 800 Diesel suggests. I've seen this happen in a gunked up car engine...
Check your sizes before you buy, I think the fuel system uses both -6an and -4an fittings. Most of them are -6 but if I recall correctly there is at least 1 line ( possibly the fuel return to the tank) that is a smaller.... must be a -4. Sometimes the fittings will be marked on the side with a 4...
I think the resistor on the VR board that Isaac-1 and Dependable are talking about is R15 / R16 depending on which version of the VR board you have. Try adjusting it and see if it changes the min and max voltage achieved by turning the panel mounted voltage adjustment. Although this won't...
Very nice work! :not worthy: 2 questions I would like to ask out of curiosity... I can't see clearly in the pic., but was wondering why you have the couduit running up to and possibly holding the buzz bar cover open rather than drilling into the side and attaching another LB fitting so the...
Reset2, no need to remove any wires, just take off the side access cover and loosen the 2 long bolts that hold the switch assembly together (might have to remove the fuel tank to get at the bolt heads) after loosening the bolts you can spray some cleaner/lubricant into the switch mechanism...
At least we got to read everything twice so now we fully understand your setup! :-D I didn't notice the part about it being a new panel and no utility or ground connection before, so YES you will need a ground rod or other suitable earth ground connection.
On page 2 of the sticky MEP-003A hookup it says they are typically neutral bonded through a ground strap. This strap should be removed to run a 4 wire hookup so that the only neutral/ground bond is in the main breaker panel.... same way you would do it if running a sub panel.
Correct, you can run the ground directly to the existing ground rod for the breaker panel, what you don't want to do is drive a 2nd ground rod at the generator if one already exists elsewhere.
If the generator neutral is bonded to the chassis, then yes, it should be removed, but I think these...
Just to make sure dkPaintball understood Chainbreaker's question , if your main breaker panel is grounded ( which I assume it probably is ) you do not want to drive a ground rod at the generator, you must use the 4th conductor to run the ground connection from the generator frame, back to the...
IMO the noise from a 002A is much less offensive than my previous generator.... a 7500W Generac.
One of mine has an ASK on it and you can hold a fairly normal conversation 10 feet away from it.
Still not as quiet as some of these new "Quiet Diesels" but definitely no louder than a riding mower...
