The deuces were replaced by FMTVs, which are less than 15 years old and the worn out ones are getting rebuild. I have seen a few get out, but they were burned, rolled and would take a machine shop a while to make right again. If the surplus system stay as open as it is now, it will be 10 years...
The t-shirts are ordered and paid for, and currently being printed. If you want a t-shirt for the rally, cost is $15 each made in USA, we have Large, XLarge, XXLarge and 3X-Fat. :) Let me know how many you need in a PM and I will mark them for you, and bring to the rally.
RE: Re: RE: DOT 5
Don at Spruce Mountain is a great guy to deal with - not only does he have a screaming deal on the DOT 5, but I was able to pick up a 5-gallon pail of 90-weight elbow grease for $20, and a NOS carton of 400 feet of flight line for $9.95. You just can't find deals like that...
Someone recently put pics in the photo albums that show how he shipped a 5-ton truck in a standard 40-ft container. If he can do it with a 5-ton, a deuce should drive right in.
Simple supply and demand. If there is someone out there willing to pay a price for a thing, even if they all technically have to be destroyed, he will pay big money for parts and build his own, even if it can't do 100% of what the original can do. When my $$$ situation evens out, I am tempted...
I pass several National Guard lots on a regular basis, and most of the CUCV series are gone. However, seems like the military wants to keep the M1028A3s for a while longer, the lots I see have several in each, with the dually setup and newer paint jobs....
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: N/A M35A2
You might luck out finding a cheap pile from a farmer who has beaten the crap out of it, and it's not worth much except for parts anymore.
Now you need a wrecker!
Slave labor is great, isn't it? Now I gotta get my 6-yr-old working on the deuce with me! Good job with the work, and thanks for the pictures!
Can't wait to get remarried so I can make more slaves. :D
All that armor and you're pulling parts off a civvy pickup. rofl Love the Iraqi colors on the gas tank filler cover! What in God's name happened to that truck? Not much left of it except for the scrap metal content....
