I took one of my M1009s down into the Flint Hills yesterday on a Geocaching mission. If you have never visited the Flint Hills of south central Kansas, you are missing some wonderful eye candy.
We hit 22 Geocaches yesterday, the highlight being Remote Chance, a Geocache placed by Invena of...
I just used an angle from an old aluminum diamond plate tool box, cut about a 3x3x6" section and drilled two holes in the cross brace tube, just ahead of the rear bumper. I used 1/4"x1.5" bolts and bolted the angle to the tube, then the plate to the angle with 1/4x1/2" bolts. The top of the...
It should be directly proportionate to your speed, say it reads 66 on the speedometer and it is actually running 60, at half that it should be 33 and 30. Ten percent in this example. There are some exceptions though, if the cable is binding and snapping forward, the needle will read much higher...

Anyway, I roll up in my M1009 and a guy...
I know Rhino Lining is super tough stuff if applied correctly. In the setup stage, it cannot be exposed to any moisture or it chemically reacts and turns to Rhino foam. The crap is next to impossible to get off. We had to air chisel a bed once, before the liner had fully set up and several...
Do a search for Chevrolet or 6.2 on GL. In the past they have been dumping 6.2 engines as they replaced them with the 6.5 engines. Sometimes they will include two or three in one auction. Post up in the classifieds here, we have some members with spares.
I agree, be sure your connections are all good. My first M1008 would do this occasionally and if I could get somebody else to hold the key in the start position, the closest battery terminal to the radiator on mine would blow a whiff of smoke. Enough contact to run everything else, but not...
Hello from Kansas! I have never been to the Houston or Austin areas of that huge chunk of land we call Texas. Been across the northern half a few times and messed around in the western part of the state on a couple of road trips. I always told myself I was going to go down there, maybe my 5 ton...
