I could not help but notice the 4 stenciled on the passenger's door of your M1009. I thought that number was supposed to match the bridge plate on the front, the M1009s being under 6,000 or a 3 ton bridge limit. Wonder what yours was hauling that mine was not. I guess maybe it is the heavy duty...
They have a methodical knock to them, especially cold or cool. I am not sure I would call it metallic. I will fire mine up and burn a drive away video, then upload it to YouTube. I usually drive pretty gently until the fast idle/advance kicks off. Glen
A few years ago we went to a GSA sale in Manhattan, Kansas. They were selling a whole fleet of deuces and five tons. Most were old gasoline burners, but you could have bought your choice of many that day for under 500 dollars. We bought a GMC M135 with a winch that some fire department had...
I did not get it yet, I will try to get pics though. He left for a few weeks on a retirement vacation. After being in the Salvage business for over 62 years, he has some time off coming. His father and grandfather owned the business before him. I would love to get that CC in my garage. I may...
I have a set on one of my M1009s and I much prefer them over the Goodyears that are on the other truck. They are much better in the mud and go great in snow. I cannot tell any difference in noise levels. Glen
If you have been driving it around without issue, it has no leaks, check the belts and hoses and go for it. I drove one of mine 450 miles home and the other about 1100 miles home. I run around 65 normally and get around 20-22 mpg on the road. Out of all the military vehicles I have been around...
Look at those flexible rubber lines as well. They ran one from the filter block all the way to the fuel injection pump. All it takes is a crack big enough to draw air through. The fuel will siphon back, drawing air. It may be months or years before it gets bad enough to leak. I have been able to...
I was watching and drooling, moving down the lines of the ones I had preselected. It was just wishful thinking.... they passed my allotted budget in a big hurry. Some of those looked like they had been stored inside! I hope they are as good as they looked. Glen
Not really mine, but definitely at my disposal! I can have the big red machine anytime I want to run her....
She may be a red headed gasser, but that old truck can pull!
The engine swap will be pretty straight forward as all of your accessories will bolt right on and the 6.5 was the next step up from the 6.2. Just use your 6.2 parts, except for the turbo part of the 6.5.
The back window you are looking for should be available from civilian Blazers. I am not...
We made a simple rolled bracket out of 1/8" plate so it bolted in existing holes in the frame rails. I wanted to keep the grill guard intact and used an 9500 rated winch. We cut a slot in the front bumper and mounted a roller fair lead to the stock from bumper. If I had it to do over again, I...
