RE: Nice looking trucks!
I recognize jatonka in the first pic. See the ever-present cigar? :D
Great pics, and some great looking trucks, too! Glad to see you had a fun time!
BTW, look forward to meeting you fellas again in Gilbert 2008!
Yup, the pic above of my antenna bases are of the MX-6707 base used for the VRC-12 series of radios (RT-524, RT-246, AM-2060, etc). The AS-3900 base you are looking for is for SINCGARS series of radios, and do not interchange.
RE: wood
Weren't most of the original bows and stakes made of oak? I have some here that I got from Uncle that are downright heavy, hard wood like it. I know oak, though, would get expensive if you were going to be making your own set of wood, especially if you were going to make troop seats...
Very nice mod. I have been thinking about changing out my deuce seats to something similar, like HEMTT seats, but these look like a good option too....
Bjorn, it looks great! Love seeing pics of your work. Also, love seeing pics of folks making custom improvements to their MVs using scrap parts and sheet metal. Really shows off what you can do with some small parts, scrap metal and spare time.
Man, I'm getting so psyched about the East Coast Convoy! Can't wait to hit the road in my deuce, convoying with a bunch of other military trucks. Gets my blood pumping!
Folks, now is the best time to sign up, if you are planning on going to Aberdeen MV Show in two weeks, to sign up for the...
My list of thing I am bringing for people is as follows:

ida34 - command tent and M103 landing wheel
SteelSoldiers - 2 t-shirts
headwizard - t-shirt
other things I am bringing to sell:
M103/M105 spring packs
CJ2/3/M38 windshield
CJ2/3/M38...
Looks like your truck is a bitsa too - bitsa this, bitsa that. I see you got the 3-color door that my 3-color camo truck is missing (my truck's driver's door matches your truck). :) You will have more of those green beasts on your farm before too long....
I must be the only person here who...
You won't get it from me. I've rarely been accused of being a flamer. Those that have ended up in the hospital. :D
2000 trucks in a field at Ft. Meade? I know Meade well enough to say that you'd be hard pressed to find a field at Meade that can handle that many vehicles parked there at...
Has anyone installed the military issue cargo tie-downs inside the bed. Not the ones that the cargo cover ties down to, but rather the round metal ones that some deuce beds have. Jim Gilmore called them "nuclear tie-downs", not sure why. One deuce I had had them welded in place, rather poor...
HVYMTL, first of all, welcome to the site! Glad to hear that you caught the bug like we did.
Second, please PLEASE use the search function. I know you're new, and have recently posted 11 new threads in the past 30 minutes, mostly threads that have been covered in much detail many many times...
Man, it's pics like this that make me think again how much some folks must think we're nuts for going to all this trouble to restore old rusty military trucks.
Great job! Do you plan on sandblasting and repainting it when it's all back together?
