I have antique tags on my deuce in VA. No problems, although if I want to use the truck to haul my trash to the dump, I'll have to pay the fee for the county sticker. Otherwise, I won't need that either.
Probably best one would be the S-250 style shelter. There's room in there to sleep, pack you stuff, maybe a few shelves worth of stuff, but don't expect to be too comfy.
Sorry, it fails in one area. Amount of room between the front bumper and my legs in the event of a front end collision with an enemy 3/4-ton vehicle and some crunchies.
I didn't see any part number on it, and the tags have rotted off. I think they are too high for a M105. Perhaps a M1008 CUCV, or maybe a lower trailer like a generator trailer, or M101/M116. I'll have to take them to Aberdeen and maybe measure a few back ends of trailers/trucks and see what...
RE: Re: WO/W to W/W
Couple questions, since I plan to do this myself on my M35A2 wo/w :
1. What is the weight of the stock deuce front bumper?
2. What is the weight of the winch assembly?
This will help me determine what I can use to lift these items, since I am not rich enough to own a...
Oh, SNAP! I did it again, forgot to post the whole story.
There IS a M172 lowboy for sale in Northern VA, by another Steel Soldier by the name of TacticalTruck. PM him for more info, I'm sure he has pics.
I answered my own question by using Google.
The M127 trailer is listed as a 12-ton capacity. The M3 halftrack is listed as 18,600 pounds weight, or 9.3 tons, so the standard-height flatbed M127 should be able to handle it. There are some on GL right now, or there are 5 sitting unhappily...
Why demil that CROP platform? It could have been used for something....guess it's our government once again dictating what we peons are allowed and not allowed to do.
I see you also got a nice towbar in the bed of the trailer!
What's the story behind the broken towbar? That must have been...
I saw in the weeds they still have a couple of these heavy, but odd-footed, towbars that I believe we have identified as for the M125 and M123 series of 10-ton trucks, according to AMGeneral. There used to be a pile of them, they are all gone (possibly put away in inside storage, but not sure)...
Well, I didn't feel like going to work yesterday (hey, I get 4 paid weeks of leave per year, I can use whenever I want. I know, you guys hate me). So I took a trip up to Coleman's in PA to pick up some more stuff before the scrappers get it. I was a little disappointed, a few things I went...
That's different - what exactly is the copper tubing for? Is the engine heat used to keep the batteries warm in the cold? Is it constant heat, or can the battery heater be turned on and off? Was this a stock item, or are you making "improvements"? :)
Is it bare metal or painted brown? Might want to spray a couple cans of BBQ grill paint on it to make it match the truck, and provide some rust protection.
Other than that, man it's looking GREAT! I really hope when it's done, that you will consider bringing it to the ECC or Aberdeen! That...
RE: Re: RE: My butt needs to get to aberdeen...
You don't live in Virginia, Bjorn, you are in BFE and you know it. :) WAY down southwest. And yes, it's a haul from your place as well!
I was thinking about installing a single-tone air horn from a Peterbilt/Kenworth/etc. in my deuce, not replacing the stock one, just adding another, one with an overhead pull-string actuator like the rigs have. I will be using copper line, it may be more expensive and harder to work with, but...
