    Photos of my new ride...

Well.... almost new. I picked it up in Chadron Nebraska and hauled it the 520 miles home on a trailer. The odometer was at 25,000.0 when I bought it and now it is 25,400. The thing runs great! It does not have as much diesel clatter as my old 85 had and it does not start as quickly. It seems to...

I will be watching this one... and hoping..

566 miles is a long long ways with a broken 5 ton... Seems like a lot of states have a Saline County, kind of reminds me of home as I rattle through... It is a really nice deuce, I will try to grab more photos later, when I buy a camera again...

Sneaky winch mounts for your CUCV

That was easy to switch to free spool, you just had to reach under the truck to do it. I am too impatient to power out cable. The one thing I did not like was having to lay on the ground and work over my head to spool the cable on straight again. I am not so sure why I always wanted the wraps to...

they sell it in a few years. The local sheriff's office picked this up from the airport authority. It pretty much looks new in every way. They plan to use it for flood rescue. Sorry about the low quality cell phone photo, some jerk stole my good camera two nights ago out of my car.

Sneaky winch mounts for your CUCV

I think if I had the front one to do over, I would use a regular fair lead and that new non-metal winch rope. That would make it flush in the bumper with just a hook hanging. I know I will be building another one for my new truck if I do not pick up a duece or 5 ton.

Goin to Ft. Sill -- first Deuce!

I have owned a few Dodges, the Cummins brought me there. I also had a Dart and a V6 D-100. I had a ton of GM muscle cars over the years. I love all things mechanical. Good luck with your recovery, I hope you got a great truck! I heard of six dueces last night headed for the crusher, about 40...

Goin to Ft. Sill -- first Deuce!

    M1009 Leaning

Usually you will notice the driver's side is lower than the passenger's side. The weight of the driver, the larger, the quicker, helps break the spring down quicker. You normally see it on the 5/4 pickups more as the fuel tank is also suspended on the driver's side. If that is the case, it is a...

Sneaky winch mounts for your CUCV

The front one I had to watch the one on the front end, I slid it on some rock shelves. The rear would drag on the springs/mounts first. It is higher in the chassis than the spare tire was. I never managed to hit it. I really used the truck more for loading and unloading trailers and pulling my...

Sneaky winch mounts for your CUCV

It only rubs when there is no tension on the cable. If you are dragging a spare tire to straighten out the wraps, it never rubs, take off the tension though and it loops up there. It is definitely close.

Sneaky winch mounts for your CUCV

I ran out of attachment space, anyway, the rear license plate is mounted with a spring and sucked up tight to the bumper. I used camper plug ins for my winch remotes. The front mount is a plate that we rolled to give it strength. The mounts are in existing holes in the chassis, no welding or...

A few questions before I go pick up my M1009

I never take a firearm anyplace close to a military base and very seldom on the road. I would not feel comfortable leaving them at the desk either. Is there a member near by that you can contact? I would think the best way out would be a car trailer, just load it up and go home. That is how we...

    Appel's M818 Conversion

That looks killer, I think I like it even better than the 4x4 bobbed 5 ton. Great job!

    Danger RPM for highway driving

While the engine produces maximum horsepower at 3,400 rpm, it produces maximum torque at 2,000. If you are wanting to cruise at 65-75mph, you will want a gear/tire combination that will do that at 2,000 rpm or just a little over, 2,400 at the most. To run extended time much higher than that will...
