There is a place in MVM that I have purchased a rebuilt unit from. Worked great! Their company is CME Armature, in Miami, FL. High prices, but they do great work. No website, and their phone numbers are in the MVM, I don't know them off the top of my head.
This sounds like an interesting project, since the price of M275 and M48 tractors are too high, making a clone would be more economical. I could use the troop seats, but the shipping would be murder. Keep us posted with pics on your progress!
Buy a HEMTT cab from a private company. Once it's sold from their lot, GL/FedGov can't ask for it back. I think these guys have a few:

That is a really unique truck! Love to see that at a rally like Aberdeen someday!
Be sure to keep us in the know with plenty of pics as you restore her...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers, from a New Jersey emigrant. Always happy to help someone from NJ, especially with brochures from other states, help moving your stuff to your new out-of-NJ home, etc. :)
Re: RE: 4 weeks left till Aberdeen and the ECC !!
Not if I can help it! Will send you a PM and see if there is some way I can help out, even if it means coordinating the convoy via phone, organizing serials, whatever. I have free time, and would be happy to help!
RE: Re: RE: First Deuce!!!
If you need a winch chain and hook, I have a spare here.
Nice truck! I'm in the same boat as you - waiting on SF97s, though, for 4 trucks. Not going to buy any more until they come in, and until I thin out the herd a bit. Enjoy this titled truck to hold you over...
I've never heard of a M1029. There were several variants of the 1028, the A1, the A2, and the last A3 had dual rear wheels. Then the numbers jump up to M1031. The seller must be mistaken.
Man, I'm getting psyched! Can't wait to be tooling down the road in convoy headed to my favorite place for MVs! Anyone else getting as excited as I am?
Okay, this one even I need help with:
left: 99 CR 23 AG
right: D 4
I figure the right denotes "D" company, truck #4. But the left has me stumped. Got the truck from Chambersburg, PA, 1970 Kaiser Jeep.
