Give me the steel ones any day. Those plastic ones just have that "made in China" look to them. I have the plastic water jugs, but for fuel, it's metal or nothing.
Straight diesel, with a 5-gallon can of old gasoline thrown in. I also dump in oddball lots of veggie oil (unused, not WVO) and motor oil if I can get a good deal on it (better than current diesel price). I plan on doing something WVO or used motor oil related in the future, but will need to...
So is there anything definitive out there? Can someone verify whether the two are different or not? I know the internals are the same, since I replaced the coil, points, rotor and cap in them, but the exterior?
Help guys?
Not yet - I'm gonna see if a friend of mine in Harrisonburg has a small Powermate or something similar I can borrow. A military genset would be great, but they are LOUD. Will keep everyone informed.
Got the notice today from the T-shirt company that the Steel Soldiers VA rally shirts are...
Thanks Cabell. I guess I kinda answered my own question - I did a search online and found the following people who seem to not only carry 6 volt bulbs, and lots of other 12 volt and even some oddballs, but they have LED 6 volt bulbs as well! Thats a neat item! Plus, they have an adapter to...
That thing looks AWESOME! Man, I'd love to have one like that, I'd even have the girly in the camo (not to be confused with "girly camo") on the passenger door!
WAY TO GO!
Are they the same? I thought they were, but I sold a spare distributor from a M715 on eBay, the buyer got it for his M37 and he says it doesn't fit - the shaft is too long. ???
Am putting the taillights on my jeep (former CJ-3A), was going to use the standard military composite lights. Only bulbs I have laying around are 24 volt and 12 volt. The CJ is 6 volt. Went to NAPA (cuz I knew AutoZone and Advance wouldn't have and couldn't order 6-volt bulbs), and even the...
Start with something that's an easy transition between a civvy vehicle and military. An M-880 Dodge pickup comes to mind. The engine is a common 318 ci V-8, so parts are plentiful, tranny is a TF 727, with the exception of the tires (in the original size) most of the parts are still...
Re: RE: SS stickers ........
Not quite - Chris said "Sure" so far to two T-shirt designs of mine which have the Steel Soldiers name on it. Guess you just have to ask him politely, and clear the final design of the sticker with him.... ;)
I'd toss them or sell for the scrap metal content. I had a military lock missing the key, and the locksmith I went to said he can rekey if he had a master "journal" key to open the thing up and reset it. Took him all of 1 second to look at it and say, "Nope, I don't have a journal key for...
Before the M880 series came out in 1975, the only wheeled military vehicle that had 8 cylinders (that was common, anyways) was the M123/M125 series of 10-tons. All the rest of the trucks had 6 cylinders.
Wow, those are meaty! Nothing says "I look BIG" till you put big rubbers on. Sorry, couldn't resist a pun.
Great looking rig, and those tires make it look even better!
I know there was a thread recently about unloading a small vehicle like a jeep from the back end of the deuce. A few chimed in, but I was wondering if the few who did (Stretch, et al) could post close up pics of the ramps that have fabricated for this purpose. I have the jeep, planning on...
What about owner/operators who park their rigs at their homes at night? Guess the zoning Nazis are going to have a lot of pissed off truckers if they keep this crap up...
Not sure we need one THAT big, Don, but thanks for the offer!
I have ordered a few extra shirts, so no problem on the size, Don. Will let you know when they come in.
Also, I have a M332 ammo trailer in good shape that I may tow to the rally. It is for sale, so if anyone is going and wants...
Sure thing, Mike! Plenty of passenger's seats to fill, and Saturday we're going to be out on the trails all day long, so that's a good day to go out.
To Mike, and all the others who are attending, I plan on sending out a .doc file via PM explaining all the last minute stuff: what to bring...
