Well, did a final looksee at the trails in the rally area this Easter Sunday, my jeep wasn't put back together, so I did it in my Durango. I like my trusty steed, even if she's not green and powered by a 40-yr-old engine, she can still go places most people wouldn't dare go in their SUVs...
RE: Re: Rausch Creek MV Rally 08!! - Oct. 10,11,12
We definitely need guys there with smaller MVs, too! The 5-tons and deuces are great, but cannot fit on the literally MILES of trails there, and must stick to the larger sections. A smaller MV like a jeep or a CUCV would be right at home.
Took a few pics last Monday when Tony Casey from Bull Gear in NC picked up my M725 and took it to it's new home to complete it's restoration. Had to take a few pics of his Ford F-550 with the M105 bed, it just looked too cool. Enjoy...
To those not familiar with why I'm calling it a M-38C, it's because when this jeep resto (or rather, refurb) is done, she will almost change over completely to a M-38 in terms of looks and how some mechanical parts function, hence a M38C (C for Clone).
A couple pics I took after working on the...
Ah, another woodman who builds his own house, back away from others to afford privacy and his own space. Great pics, be sure and post pics of the house in its construction. With, of course, pics of your trucks helping out!
RE: Ralley
A lot dropped off due to events like work, etc. that wouldn't have been known until closer to the event. Also, a few folks 2-4 hours away from Hburg were going to come, but I think the price of fuel is causing a lot to back out, and save up more for Aberdeen in May. That's fine, at...
Also, letting everyone know that this is the final tally that I have of those that are coming. If you are going, but you're name isn't here, LET ME KNOW. There were some on the master list from a couple months back, but I just haven't heard from them.
Coming to the rally:
L1A1, 1 guest...
I plan on doing my deuce once a year, regardless of mileage, though I doubt I will be putting more than a few thousand miles a year on my truck. If I change oil every 3,000 miles, just like my other vehicles, I see no problem in my truck having a lifespan of 40-50 more years with the same engine.
Why Kenny, do you try and BS him a lot? ;)
I have to give him a call and let him know I would like to pick up a towbar from him at Aberdeen. Those look like good restorable HMMWV chassis - I'm sure if the price were right someone could build it back up....
Roger that on wadereg, thanks. Will update the final list of those going shortly.
Here's the final info on the tshirt order, those who responded. I will order a few extra in case some don't decide to go until last minute.
I HAVE SHIRT INFO FOR THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING:
Opie, 1...
Pre-GL days, I bought a M416 sight unseen and when I picked it up one of the wheels was locked up, the parking brake was engaged and the brake shoes rusted solid to the drum. I brought a flatbed trailer to tow it home on, but if I hadn't, I would have had to resort to pulling the drum onsite...
