RE: New Member
Welcome to Steel Soldiers, Marines42! Glad to have another armor owner onboard, that really is a nice Ferret you have there. Also happy to see some young'uns playing with it, kids love military vehicles!
Darn, I notice there's an auction in GA coming up for 7 HEMTT cabs, looks like the seats are still in them. Anyone interested in a group buy? I can't store them here, but maybe if we all chip in some $$$ we can get some primo chairs for our trucks. Can anyone inspect the lot and see what...
You're right - very nostalgic looking with the buildings in the back, and the tone of the photo. If they were taken in 1945, though, the tires would be NDTs, the ambulance would probably show a few signs of heavy use, there would be craters everywhere, and half the buildings in the rear of the...
With the junk I've heard about him, I wouldn't let USA6x6 pimp my wheelbarrow. It may have safety issues and be screwed up beyond repair by the time he's done.
The primary howitzer that was towed by the M125 10-ton cargo truck was the M115 8-inch howitzer. It served during WWII through the early 1960s, but was effectively replaced by the M107 175-mm self-propelled howitzer and its 8-inch counterpart, the M110. The M125 cargo truck also could tow the...
Is there any appreciable difference between the comfort level of a deuce spring seat (which is okay, not wonderful, but a lot better than the original box seat) and the HEMTT spring seats? They look similar, but I've heard a few guys modded them, just wondering if it's worth the effort....
A complete light kit is for sale from TNJ Murray for about $200. This includes two lights, posts, etc. If you need only one, you can order the whole kit and sell off what you don't want, or build it yourself from parts. Saturn Surplus sells the lights for $39 each.
Those are not armor behind the jeeps. Tracks, yes. but the M548s are unarmored cargo carriers. Hope a fire department gets those - they love them as all-terrain brush fighting rigs.

I think between $2 and $3 per loaded mile. Since this would no doubt classify as a wide-load, you might be around $3 a mile.

Gotta paint it green again, though. That "commercially exciting" red and white paint job just doesn't do it for me.
Good luck looking at the dump on Saturday, Brandon! Whether you or Cabell get it, doesn't matter to me, I'm just happy it will go to a good home, and not torched into scrap chunks...
I recall Cabell told me in November that there were a few HEMTTs sitting in the Fort Bragg DRMO yard that were going through the screening system. Hope they come up for bid! (not that I'll be bidding on them, I just like seeing big iron get auctioned off)
