Stop tempting me, Jeff! I have a credit card and I know how to use it!
Great pics, Dirt71 ! I bet you will love owning that, and showing it off to others! I doubt you will love the fuel bill, though !
RE: M151
It used to be that M151s could be cut into four pieces and you get the parts. Then it was you could pull any parts off your wanted, but had to leave the body. Have they been relegated to scrap altogether? Can't even pull the parts off?
That's a very nice trailer you have there!
As for the shelter halves, I feel your pain. I sold a pile of them on eBay years ago, $20 per tent (two shelter halves), but I had to round up all the poles, ropes, and stakes to make the tents complete. You might start looking for a source of cheap...
Very cool vid. Man, the mud down there isn't normal mud, that mud is called GUMBO. When offroad tires provide no traction, that is GUMBO you're driving through, not mud.
Re: RE: Re: RE: after an auction closes...
Wanna bet they are being melted down and turned into Chinese weapons which will eventually be pointed at Americans in the next several years. Same thing happened with Japan just prior to WWII; they bought all the cheap scrap since we were in the...
I paid $2200 including buyer's premium for a rebuilt deuce with new engine, new tranny, new brakes, new tires, new doors, new radiator, new troop seats and header board, new new new along with several nice upgrades (electric wiper system) out of Chambersburg. They are out there, you just have...
Doesn't look like rust is too much of a problem in the cold climes you have up north. I see a few have peeling paint problems, but that's nowhere near as bad as cancer.
Nice trucks, thanks for sharing the pics!
Just got a call from Gary, a non-Steel Soldier who bought my old winch truck. He said he'll be here for 1 day since he lives closeby. I added him to the list.
So far, 23 drivers and almost an equal number of guests! I am thrilled that so many Steel Soldiers are coming out into the woods...
Got a call from a deuce owner near me who bought my old winch truck - says there is a M51 gasser dump truck in good solid condition, for $1000. Truck runs, drives, the hydraulics works and the dump dumps, the tires are pretty good. Top is missing, but owner has all the bows, rods, etc. Body...
Much fun, glad I got to meet more Steel Soldiers there! To those who didn't go, it's a small show, but lots of great folks go to it, and most were not affected by the threats of bad weather, and would have come in a blizzard if one came through! Lots of great deals on stuff too.
Good...
Re: RE: PICS of The M543 Going Through Phases
Hope to. A little too far out for planning, but it's not that far up the road. It all depends how things go with the bills come summer.
I'd go with an M37, myself. Better availability of parts, and more of a chance that you'd use it as a daily driver. Most WWII vehicles I have seen restored make it to shows, but are essentially trailer queens that never really get used. You'll be more happy with something you use often.
Checked the weather and it looks like crap this weekend up there. Still plan on going, I just hope it's there when I get up there Sat. morning. Be a terrible waste of fuel if it's not. Course, I remember it was pretty crappy weather past couple years too and they still had it.
