Had one last truck up in Chambersburg PA to pick up, a 1972 AMG (from what DDoyle says, GL says its a Reo, I trust David) winch truck, non-turbo hardtop. This one ran like a top, but needed a jump. Rather than ensure the hell that happened last week, we took the strongest runner north with a...
Finally got the pics off my camera. The tub was a MD Juan body tub for an M38, one of the early ones with none of the standard cutouts and holes pre-drilled, so I have my work cut out for me. The tub was new, but installed on a chassis and left outside a bit, then removed, the project was...
Man, I want warmer weather to show up. Anyone have any pics of the deuce with the top down and cruisin' the drag in town? The benefit of having a soft top is that you can easily remove the top, and have a 7-ton convertable!
That's going to be hard to find certain parts for (i.e. data plates). Did this use a standard fifth wheel, that perhaps you can pull off a standard M275 tractor?
I have noticed an increase in the number of people "selling" used WVO in my area. Three years back they were giving it away like it had hives, a couple places in town are selling WVO for $3/gallon. !!! No kidding. BTW - that's pre-processed junk WVO. Almost worth it to continue burning diesel.
Go here - USA-made U-bolts, round or square head, some of the best prices around, for any application, made when you need them. They made some U-bolts for me for my -725, and they were delivered FAST!

Hmmmmm....If I'm feeling strong on Saturday, I might get that towbar off you! Heck, and if I'm felling weak on Saturday, I'll have you load it! :)
Mark, PM me details on the towbar, price/condition/etc.
It's quite possible some of those M88s and M88A1s started life out made by Chrysler, I think they made them back in the 1960s. Guess they are going to be refitted as M88A2s. Great pictures, David!
I guess they replaced the data plate somewhere along the line and used an old Reo data plate. Unfortunately, I am going to have to register it as a Reo-made unit since I have nothing else to go by. I will use the contract date as the year of make.
Am going up Saturday morning. Can bring any of the following for anyone who wants the following parts:
M105 trailer axle, $30
M105 spring packs/overload spring packs, $30 for pair
CJ3A windshield assy, $100
CJ3A tailgate, $50
CJ3A hood (stamped Willys), $75
wood field desks, $35 ea
vinyl...
Did a search on GL and noticed there are a LOT of 818 tractors coming out of the bases now. Anyone have a reason for this? I noticed there are more 818s than any other -800 variant combined, including 813 cargoes. I'm surprised that these tractors got held around in service longer than any...
Picking up a deuce tomorrow in Chambersburg, I can tell the year for the most part on most data plates, this one is kinda weird.
Truck was made by Reo Motors company, number on the data plate is
NKO2HT0539-15814
Bruce Kubu sold me a spot, not sure where it was, but I'm glad I am camping with Steel Soldiers this year, and not WAY out in BF Egypt. Hopefully Downhill Bill will drop in for a few drinks!
