    Formal Introduction

Welcome to the site, Ben! I see you have a M1008 with the rare "arctic ballast/anti-sway package"! You WI guys sure get a lot of snow!

    Tire markings questions

Just letting you know I saw a couple old 16.00x20 tires of yours at TNJ MUrray's the other day, but they each had a tear in them (they were in the scrap tire pile).

    1968 Kuneman????

Ugh. Now THERE'S a candidate for a bob job! Or a parts rig.

    Rear lights

For the larger trucks, I'd use the newer taillights seen on most deuces. They are big and can be seen easily. The LED lights are even better, but expect to pay $$$$$$. For my M725, which I bought to drive a little around town (when it's done being painted) I bought new Gama Goat type...

    Virgina Steel Soldiers Rally - April 4-6, 2008 - sign up !

I'd agree with Bruce on the cargo cover issue, M215. Most of the area down there has plenty of headroom, but some areas the tree branches come down within deuce level. I plan on taking a deuce without the bows or cargo cover, just the side racks. If you have convoy lights, might be a good...

Military Turn Signal units and 6 volt electrical

RE: turn signal Ah, forgot about that - will have to make a trip to NAPA to get a bulb! :)

Military Turn Signal units and 6 volt electrical

cbvet - thanks, yes I was talking about the switch. I can use the stock flasher that the CJ3A has, just the turn signal switch is all boogered up along with the wires, and have a switch laying around. gwalker - thanks, but I like the military sealed system better than the one in the link...

Military Turn Signal units and 6 volt electrical

I know the standard military turn signal units will run on 24/28 volts, and on 12 volts, but does anyone know if they will work on 6 volt?

    Gas Tank Sealer

I had my radiator shop do my -725's gas tank, it was a little rusty, mostly from sitting empty for a long time with no gas cap on. They used this stuff, and it looks pretty good so far.

Freeze plug went into the block

RE: Re: Freeze plug went into the block If you can barely reach it with your fingers, is it possible that you can reach it with a pair of LONG needle nose pliers, and pull it back out the same hole? If not, I second that suggestion by mang.

Freeze plug went into the block

Dear Arrrrgh!!! I would do everything possible to get that freeze plug out. It could turn up in places you really don't want a plug to be, and cause a good amount of damage later.

    Virgina Steel Soldiers Rally - April 4-6, 2008 - sign up !

RE: VA rally 4/4/08 I think the HEMTT would be pushing the limits of what the ranger told me: "Sure, large army trucks are okay." I think 5-tons towing a M105-sized trailer will have to be the limit in this area of the park.

    Commercial Deuce purchase..

I agree with you there. One of the things I regret more than anything else in my MV owning history is buying my first MV as a non-running basket case fixer-upper, which was a lot of work and took loads of research and sweat equity. I should have bought a better quality truck as my first, that...

    Doh!

Yeah, I got the outage thing last night too. Weird computer terms and data at the top of the page, nothing else. Looks like the web guys fixed it though. Thanks for getting us back up and running!

Very cool pictures. Wish I had a Huey, and knew how to fly one. What's it like having money? :)

trip to TNJ Murray in Dover, DE

Didn't feel like going to work today, so I used some Paid Time Off I had saved up and took a 3 hour (one way) trip to TNJ Murray in Delaware to snag some 7.00x16 tires he had, that I will be using on my CJ3A. They were in the process of tearing apart a small pile of MUTTs that were cut in half...

    Dual Exhaust For Deuce

Okay, time to start making arrangement on this end for the Spring 2008 Virginia SS Rally! This rally will be a weekend trail riding event in the scenic mountains just west of Harrisonburg, VA in the George Washington National Forest. Date is set for the first weekend of April 2008, sort of a...
