Open up drivers side engine compartment inspection panel. Mounted on fender just in front of the fire wall. Your new one may look different from the old one but it should be "fin" looking if that's a way to describe it.

I had the same symptoms and after changing the flasher, my problem is a short in the wiring. I'm replacing the wiring going from the turn signal to the flasher in about 2 hrs from now. Picked up a new one yesterday at the Alpharetta show.
Technically the military directed if the truck was in CARC, the lettering had to be in CARC. Nobody ever had the CARC so we normally used whatever was available. I even remember once a kid using rubber undercoating paint. What a mess he made.

Can it do it, techically it is only suppose to go 6000 pounds towed load. Has it been done before? Absolutely. Folks tow one deuce with another all the time and that's more weight. .
