RE: Duece dump at work
Very nice looking dumper there! I love pics showing our members using their MVs for useful purposes. Don't get me wrong, show trucks are nice too, but there's something about having a military type vehicle and putting it to good use fixing up someone's property, house...
Wonder how a M76 Otter would do in the muck? Or just a lowly deuce? I remember at Haspin that gilbert2-1/2ton blew through that mud pit, while all the other 4x4s got stuck time and again....
We towed a couple M332s back from Chambersburg recently, 100 miles one-way. Did not hook up the brakes. No problems at all with regards to stopping, the brakes on the deuces were more than adequate for the haul back. If the trailers were full to capacity, might require the brakes to be hooked up.
RE: thanks !
I like the green camo as well. But it still looks great. What are those tires that you put on the HMMWV? I am familiar with the Super Swampers that it used to have, but those road tires don't look right to me....
Was driving through Romney WV yesterday and this caught my eye passing by the American Legion. A WWII Quad 50 trailer, not bad a shape, but could use a little more paint and rust scraping. Thought I'd snap a few pics and share them with you all.
Man, as time goes on the military trucks look more and more like shoeboxes and less like well-designed pieces of hardware.
Anyways, looks like Stretch has started a trend. Now all the mil truck drivers are doing burnouts!
Any oil-rated hose of the proper length and ID will do for a slobber pipe. It should be straight. Perhaps you might be able to get some straight pieces at your local hardware store.
Wow, that's amazing that you're able to fit a Halfie in a 3/4-ton trailer. Looks like a baby peeking its head out of a blanket! Good luck with the move....
