The highest part of the cab is now 114.5 inches with the 53s. I scrapped the idea of the external cage and A/C because I purchased an in-cab A/C and heater. The cage should fit inside the cab just fine.
Well, the disc brakes are completely finished now. All that is left are custom braided stainless steel brake lines to go from the factory tees at each axle to the 2001 F550 rear caliper at each corner.
Here are a few teaser pictures. As usual all of my pictures are on my website...
Owen, no, this is the full disc brake setup that replaces the existing drums. It's a Ford 15" disc and F550 caliper at each corner. I would never run a pinion brake setup.
I tore down my front/rear axles, cleaned them up, and replaced the seals, boots, etc. Black Rock Fab sent me a front/rear disc brake kit, so I removed the factory drum brake setup including the backing plates. Those were some tough rivets to take out on the rear plates. I reached a snag on...
I finished the demo on both axles of my bobber in preparation for installing disc brakes that arrived last Friday. DID I MENTION THAT I HATE RIVETS! Just when I thought I was done removing rivets from bobbing my deuce and recently installing power steering, I had to take out 24 rivets on the...
John,
I ran 1600s on my bobbed deuce for a few months with the factory manual steering in place. Mind you I didn't take it off-road in any deep ruts, but interstate and city driving were no issues. My only advice is to drive "crab style" with your thumbs out! I have since gone to a power...
I had time today to fabricate an air compressor intake "fording kit". Simply connect the intake tube on the air compressor to the tube that sticks out the back of the air filter housing.
As always, many more pictures are on my website. HanksDeuce.com "click modifications".
Catch up time on my modifications.
1) I took final pictures of the power steering install.
2) I took a final picture to show how I tied the 1/4" OD poly tube vent system into the air filter housing.
3) Today I replaced the transfer case vent with a compression fitting elbow and connected it to...
Jim, take a look at post #98 on this thread for the brake line info.

I have not driven it with the power steering yet because I'm waiting to put the front/rear disc brake kit on. My boots are torn and I need to rebuild my axle...
I installed a cheap slobber (road draft) tube on my bobbed deuce over the weekend.
I removed the existing axle vents and replaced them with a vent system that purges into the air filter housing under the hood.
As always, all of my pictures are on my website. HanksDeuce.com "click...
Well, I'm 99% done with the install of the Waterloo Specialties power steering kit for my deuce. All I need to do is pick up my NAPA coolant filter kit, fill the coolant, and crank it tomorrow!
Tom Bauer made one nice power steering kit for the deuce. I had to call him a few times for...
