Thanks for the response!
So if I understand you correctly the actual panels are made up from like 1/8 inch thick sheet metal that is bent in to the corrugated louvered shape without having a frame of their own. They than slide in to a frame type bracket that is attached to the side of the...
Thanks Guys for the good info....could not figure out what they are used for...(thought maybe they were fancy US ARMY wash-boards....so the soldiers could do their laundry when they get to an Oasis! lol)
Now of course..... I have find a way to make some for the ACP.....darn....more work....:-(...
Chris,
yes it is a locomotive! Anyway thanks for posting the video.....I did not know it existed nor have I seen it.....looks preety cool lol....
So I think the M920a1 and the M747 could handle the M60....:grd:
Soni
p.s. here is a couple more pics....
I know that they use some angled additional armored surfaces for the purpose of pre-detonating RPG's but these pannels look way to localized to be effective for that function.......
I have been working on my APC and have been looking at a lot of photos on the internet.
So i noticed that alot of the tanks, apc's and wheeled vehicles deployed in Iraq have these square framed, louvered looking pannels on their sides and/or rear.
The vehicles in the pics have them clearly...
Yes, that is correct Henry.
I just thought that maybe someone has tried it and knows if it works.....and maybe what kind of valve function one has to use to operate the sprague in the T-case.
Thanks
Soni
We could haul it with my M920a1 on the m747 lowboy.....It was built to haul one M60 MBT or two M113 APC's.
The truck also has a big enough winch to load and unload it with.....
I bet that would yield some awesome pics!
Count me in if the museum decides that it want's to have it moved!
Soni
Thanks for the input,
I'm not trying to get rid of the hi-lo shift lever in my 5-ton thought.
My issue is that the current tranny has the air-valve built in to the top cover that operate the sprag in the T-case depending if you are in forward or reverse.
With the Fuller tranny that feature...
I got a Big Cam III 350 horse Cummins with a Fuller 13 speed that I'm planning to instal in my M818.
Im planning to operate the T-case with a manual air switch on the shifter that i switch when I change from forward to reverse and back to forward.
Question....has anybody tried to operate the...
S-250 shelter to frame mounting
I had to solve this problem on my M920A1 when I installed the S-250 shelter. After some consideration I ended up going with a 3 point attachement system.
I started by building a subframe out of 2"x 2"x 3/8" angle, facing up, just large enough to let the two...
Thanks for a professional explanation!
Well no worries.....I did not feel attacked by your comments....Lol
I just think that somtime we all are a little fast in critisizing when there are actually (contrary to popular believe) still a few safety minded guys out there that do think before...
Justin,
sounds like a great idea! I would love to see that! Let me know if i can help in any way (dimmensions, modifications or even fifth wheel locations lol )
Soni
fifth wheel location
Well.....if you are so fast with not so nice comments....would you be so kind and explain to the rest of us why the fifth wheel can't be behind the pivot of the rear boggie?
Just really interested in your explanation......
Soni
If you don't mind me asking.....did you buy them from Pat at Khaki Corps in Tulsa?
I just bought a FV432 mk2/1 from him and like to make some connections with other owners....
Thanks Soni
Well.....since it is christmas I decided to give myself a christmas present and start on my bed conversion for the M818.
I'm using a 5 ton bed....but that's what I had laying around the yard.
I cut it down to 8' because I need extra room for putting a 45'000# hydraulic winch behind the cab...
Nice M818....Good thinking on the unloading! I does look a little cold for the test drive....You know, you could just swap sides on the windshields for now....get at least the driverside covered.....of course this way you don't have to worry about it fogging up....lol
You guys did a lot of shoveling in pic 5! How long did it take you to get through that spot? I know how much hard work this is....hat to do it up on Pearl Pass one Fall.....we had 5 people but at 11'300 feet of elevation you get "winded" pretty quickly....lol
Really nice pics!
