The front bearing is sealed, the back one is just an exposed roller...probably not a good idea to stick the hose in there. Wait, that sounds wrong...
I think either way you really can't hurt much on a Cuck. There really are not a whole lot of electronics in the engine bay. Not sure about that...
How bad is it?
I typically use a degreaser like Purple Power or Simple Green in a spray bottle. I warm the engine up and get the engine bay hot, spray it on, let it soak for a bit, hose it off really good, start engine back up to dry things off. I typically run a blow gun over everything before...
Wiring any accessories on the 24v side tends to balance out the loads on the CUCV since you are utilizing both batts and gens instead of just one set. Plus you can get away with smaller wiring on the 24v side (if we are talking same wattage for comparison). As far as the HID being twice as...
Nice! Ugly trucks stick out like sore thumbs.
Planning on it in the spring time. Need to make sure work is more secure before I commit to buying lots of diesel fuel.
Where is the Mess Hall and what topic would you like it to be? I'm thinking like pictures of military trucks next to boats???
No excuses needed for looking at boats! A GB is a GO boat...if 8 knots cruise is considered GO :)
Then again mine in its current configuration is a go nowhere boat!
The biggest thing is not really the lift height. It's getting the axle away from the firewall. You will need to trim regardless but the zero rate will really help since one inch forward means two inches bigger tire. Don't forget that stock push/pull steering combined with a zero rate is not a...
A 14 bolt full floater not so much. The pinion depth is shim adjustable on the removable section. The carrier has threaded adjusters. Really the only hard part is setting pinion bearing preload because the crush collar requires lots of leverage (ie. big mf'n bar) to get it to begin crusing. Of...
Thats a nice looking ride. The brushguard looks like it belongs to a P38 Range Rover.
I agree, if you have never done a gear swap I wouldn't. Lots of knowledge, specialty tools, and experience are required even if you are pretty mechanically inclined. Of course I state this in doing the job...
I think because those are the bias ones which probably suck on the street. My radial Goodyears see pretty much all street use and are pretty decent. I run no weights so I have to watch tire wear. I own a set of centramatic balance rings but have yet to install them due to rim clearance. Gotta...
I would caution the regear to...unless you are really over revving on the highway you can never really have too much gear. Plus it is rather expensive to regear correctly.
I used to go wheeling out by you Rick, long gone are the days of Paragon Park :(
These cold temps will really cause havoc if you have multiple systems starting to fail. Really go through your batteries, charging, starting, GP, and fuel delivery systems. Any one will cause a hard start because...
I run mine for size, price point, and durability only. I do not really wheel my truck but the little amount I have, I would probably go with something newer if that was the case. Maybe the MTR pattern as I've had great luck with them in other rigs. You get what you pay for and the MTs fit the...
I think we should definately do a local ride just for everyone to meet up. Sounds like lots of eastern NC guys on here that haven't done any trips yet. I started a thread to see the interest level...
