    On abandoning your vehicle:

Not sure why you are so bitter. I simply stated choosing and maintaining your equipment goes a long way. Here is probably an issue, carbs belong in dirtbikes and chainsaws. Don't hate me because I point out that a carb is unreliable on a trail rig and can leave you stranded. Don't shoot the...

M1009 4" lift driveline vibration troubleshoot/new driveline components

Near anyone with a similar rig that you can swap rear shafts out of to verify it is the driveshaft? I would avoid a tcase drop at all costs, they are very counter-productive. If anything, fabricate a motor mount lift to maintain ground clearance and relieve the rear driveshaft angle.

    On abandoning your vehicle:

Maybe you misread that. Most rigs before the 80's were built strong regardless of where they came from. I was posting that some junk S-10 or Jeep with slipyokes, c-clips, and chains for tcases are not worthy of offroading, especially way out in the middle of now where. I don't care who...

    On abandoning your vehicle:

On another note, you shouldn't be traveling out to such remote places with one truck. Especially if you cannot remote call in parts/tools and have them brought to you. Again, having the correct tools and training can get you out of a pickle. My friend blew his diff up in his Range Rover...

    On abandoning your vehicle:

Been fourwheeling for 13 years and never had to abandon my vehicle on the side of the road. I have driven for hours way below highway speeds due to bend driveshafts, blown out suspension bushings/shocks/rims, and very large oil leaks draining my transmission and filling my tcase. I think you...

lighter duty rear leaf springs M1008

On a budget, just start removing leafs from the rear pack until you get the desired ride.

what do you use for outback comms?

If you don't plan on using the radio for communication, only in an emergency, it seems like a waste to do everything and not use it. I would like to obtain my HAM license and get the equipment so I am not going to say no to doing that but an emergency transponder seems like a better fit for what...

lighter duty rear leaf springs M1008

Look at my M1031 build, I used a set of aftermarket springs which ride very nice with my heavy SECM box out back. You can get them pretty much any weight capacity you want. If you do not order a standard spring, you will add to the cost and time to delivery as mine were already sitting on the...

Took the M1009 offroading in the woods of NH

Clean 09 Where in NH? I used to run all the class 6 roads in southern NH when I was wheeling a stock sized Wrangler back in the day.

    M1031 build thread

What a monster! Poor M1031 lugging that thing around:shock: Your SECM box is slightly different from mine. Your front door comes down lower and your filler neck is in the wheel well panel, mine is inside behind the door. The rest of the air compressor and lighting equipment looks to be the...

    M1031 build thread

This one is a behemoth. It took 3 students and myself to pull it out. Absolutely oversized and heavy. My truck actually sat crooked because of this thing. My Hobart 140 will fit much nicer in that slot:shock:

    M1031 build thread

Thank you. The rims are off a late 80's, early 90's F250/350 and are 9.75" wide. The width is slightly too wide. I had to get the local tire guy down the road to seat the beads because my machine wouldn't do it. He has a big air cannon which did the job after letting the tires sit in the sun for...

    M1031 build thread

I decided I am going to ditch the SECM PTO generator setup. It just takes up too much space, is overkill for what I need, and I already own a generator/welder/air compressor setup. The welder is already sold to an SS member. I am looking to sell the remaining equipment. The generator has 5...

How do I make my wipers reset

Ok, take no offense but I'm going to be straight with you...did you even look at my second post flow chart and wiper motor diagram? If you did and you still have a question with the rediculous one step diagnostic procedure...well you must be numb. I gave you THE EXACT procedure with a photo of...

    opinions on 31x10x50 michelin ltxat2's

If you need a great all around tire for on/off road and don't want to spend a lot of money, I wouldn't look further than Treadwright MTR's or General Grabber AT2's. Everything else is either junk or too expensive. There are better tires out there but you will pay for it.

    m1009 lifts and gears

I think money wise, unless you are getting a matching set of 10 bolts with exactly the gears you want in decent shape for a steal, it is not worth it. By the time you buy new gears, bearings, setup kits, carriers (you are adding an LSD or locker I presume because open is almost useless), and the...

How do I make my wipers reset

This procedure is simpler and easier because it has pictures...yay pictures... My truck doesn't work on LOW speed until I run it on HI for awhile, then LOW will go slowly and my park function comes back. The park function uses the LOW speed circuit and if this circuit doesn't work due to...

How do I make my wipers reset

Taken from AllData at the school: Wiper Inoperative Connect a test lamp to wiper terminal No. 2, Fig. 4, and turn ignition ``On.'' If test lamp does not light, check for blown wiper fuse. If fuse is satisfactory, check for an open circuit between wiper terminal No. 2 and fuse block. If...

    Fuel filter?
