    They say hold the button down for a moment because of the amps and the starter and such but it is running before I can get finger off the button. None of that put the fuel pump on for a while stuff. I turn the switch, the buzzer goes on, touch the button and 58 seconds later the buzzer goes quiet.

    Just needed to replace the thermostat as suspicion was that it failed or was not a 180F° stat. Put new hoses and thermostat and found "extra" pieces lodged in the takeout thermostat.     Brand new but cracked valve spring/s or retainer. Comparison check, dial indicator on the valves before pull the head, quickest way. Just with the one cover off. Befuddled here too.

    post #4 do compression check. When valves were adjusted the #4 intake went down open just like the others? Use of a dial indicator on valves would indicate a cam problem. This has me puzzled.
