The sPrague changes direction as it goes in and out of reverse. Spraying it full of lubricant and shifting in and out of reverse should d be sufficient.
I would be interested in data from a walking speed rollover with a rollbar which was not tied to the frame. Even a sample size of one would be interesting.
I saw a video of a stock jeep that got sideways on a hill and rolled sideways for maybe 20 revolutions. Looked like the occupants were...
I speculate that it depends on the speed at which it happens. A motor vehicle collision with rollover at highway speed probably won't end well.
On the other hand, offroad rock crawling and havr a lowspeed roll over those roll bars may be the difference between walking away unscathed and DRT...
I think what suits his needs best would be a 916. Sounds like he gets into rough enough stuff to need the 6x6 that the 915 doesn't have.
The 809 and 939 series trucks are not road tractor specific enough to be ideal, even tweaked to bump up the top speed
A recent M916A3 would probably be...
I believe he thought they were six volt becausee there are 4 of them and it's a 24v system.
His deuce has a 24v system and has two 12v batteries, thus since there's four here in this 24v system they must be 6v.
Obviously he knows better now.
If you have the time, charging each battery individually as mentioned above is optimal.
If you don't have the time or a slave cable, you can jump 24v to 24v using a normal jumper cable. The first positive post and the truck frames are what you should grab. This merits caution, as incorrect...
I've been thinking....
Let's change units of measure for a moment.
We have a MEP803, nominally a 10kW generator.
The military underrates them. Typically they'll happily make 120%...
You have 20,000 watts (labeled) of load. The generator is pushed right at the 60% mark. Without fiddling...
Interesting. I've never calculated it that way. (Obviously I was "missing something")
I'm coming at the generator stuff from a different perspective. I learned electricity as an offshoot of welding. I've only used Ohms for calculating the current carrying capacity of cables.
For a field...
I strongly suspect they mean mudflaps. These should already be in the truck. If not, I have a set I took off my M925 to clear the 16's...
Edit - come to think of it, I have a set of rear fenders off an M818, but I really doubt you need them.
Skid mounted? $2k-$2600.
Add $1000-$1500 if on an 1101 chassis.
Market varies by location and whether there's a storm in the Gulf....
Or search recent auction sales. Add 20% for fees and taxes and then add another 20% for it not being an unknown auction machine...
I'm not sure it's a matter of keeping a lower overall operating temp. I think it's more a matter of preventing localized hotspots.
Keeping the whole thing cooler may keep the hotspots less hot, but I still think the primary concern are those small pockets near #8 that get hot. I speculate that...
Exactly this. I read and learn.
My thought was to have the 12v side charge a completely separate 12v system to include a battery to run the 12v stuff when the truck isn't running.
Obviously I haven't done it. My own approach has been that if it isn't 24v I can do without it, but I certainly...
my opinions , possibly worth what they cost you -
1) age is but one variable among many. 15 years in an OKC warehouse is preferable to 2 years stored outside at Davis Monthan getting sun blasted.
2) 16.00's are made for the hemtt, which is far more demanding than a 5ton.
How far does an aged...
I've dealt with Gary multiple times and it has always gone well.
We drove my M925 over Mt Lemmon in AZ once, and he's come to KS and driven my M818 as well.
