Running 12v accessories in my m998? What’s the best way??

Use as much 24v as you can. For the stuff that has to be 12v, use a converter. Tapping just one battery works, but it kills batteries.

Rear wheel single out w/out flipping hubs

Why do we care if they follow in the same track? (Serious question, this comes up when discussing the use of hemtt wheels on 939s)

Rear wheel single out w/out flipping hubs

Yes but... Unloaded and empty, used as an oversized pickup truck/toy, I speculate that the bearings would be up to it for the amount of miles it would see in this usage.

    Tire changing tools

Slave port impact wrench. 24v and plugs into the slave port. They aren't quite strong enough to be certain they'll break lug nuts loose on a 5ton, but they'll be overkill for a HMMWV. price should be somewhere around $125. I no longer have any. This isn't an ad.

    98G's M818 acquisition and build....

    Um.... Stuff To Do

    98G's M818 acquisition and build....

I still have it. Seems like every time I'm near it its too windy to try to deal with the hood by myself. It's on the list of STDs. I probably won't be there again until late in the year...

M923 No Mess oil and filter change.

Since scar59 is out of it, I'm trying also. I'm going to try to buy everything in bulk and put a fuel/oil/transmission filter kit together if I can hit a reasonable price point. Looks like a quantity of 250 is where the price drops. I'm thinking that I'd be sitting on them forever to move that...

What is this tank training gun worth?

One wonders if it has functional parts.... things that might make it fall afoul of the NFA...

    Special Commendation to 98G

Thank you. I'm always happy to talk trucks...

M923 No Mess oil and filter change.

Buy one from scar59. That way you know you're getting the right one. Also, you won't find it retail at a better price. He isn't gouging the prices on them. At a selling price of $130 he *might* be making $15 per kit, presuming he buys them in bulk. (These numbers are my speculation based on...

    New XM818 made it home!

You really don't want to use the thimbles in place of lugnuts. They aren't designed for it and can fail. Replace them with lugnuts like you have on the front of the truck. If you *must* use thimbles as an emergency temporary field expedient lugnut, the wheel goes on first, then the thimble...

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Skepticism is warranted when talking about EUC approval dates. I wouldn't schedule vacation time etc until you actually have approval.

Electrical issues.... Voltage gauge in yellow and not green

In the yellow frequently means charged batteries but charging system INOP.

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Tires look fine to me. I'd carry spares, but run those. Weigh stations along the first part of your route want you to stop, commercial or not. (Ask me how I know...) It'll be an adventure. Enjoy!

Did you lift your bed when you added 16.00's?

No... either travel is limtied by contact with the bed, or by contact with bumpstops. Using the bumpstops as the limiter prevents tires from being shredded. No bed, or spacer between the frame and the bed will allow additional travel. Thing is, articulation is but one variable among many...

Did you lift your bed when you added 16.00's?

Or alter your bump stops to limit articulation so the tires won't contact the bed.

    Brakes come & go

This varies. I've seen them both ways. Sometimes they're labeled. Back to the brake symptoms - I've experienced similar except for the hard pedal. Are you losing fluid out the vent under the hood?

    New XM818 made it home!

Using hemtt rims on the front of 818's requires either replacement of the wheelstuds with longer ones or the use of offset lugnuts.

    Run flats. Yes or no?

I want run-flats for me. I encourage everyone to use them. A steer tire blowout is an experience.... That said, the blowout that was the most difficult for me to control was driver side middle axle. Super single M923A2 with an M925A1 on towbars behind it. Both trucks were loaded. Speed...
